Bruh, it's normal to have a spotter giving directions because you can't see certain areas under the rig, ever he's doing is fine, even pros have spotters doing the same thing
I would say anywhere a wrangler could go. The wranglers have solid front and rear axles, which means it can do bigger lifts and tires, which means more flex which means bigger stuff it can go over. But this can go a lot of fun places
Sand Hollow OHV area is a wonderful place to wheel. Lots of trails from 0 to 10 ratings. The Winter 4X4 Jamboree is held every January with guided trails and fun activities.
They ain't cheap, but the JBA (Jeepin' by Al) suspension kits are really nice. I have the 4" suspension on mine. I think I have a total of about $15k into it. That includes a lot more than the suspension (skid plates, bumpers, steel Dana 30 short front diff, aftermarket CV's, gearing, etc.). Frankly, it would have been cheaper to fix up an LJ, but what the heck - I love the CRD diesel Liberty, and I also have a built JK for the rough stuff.
I can't remember for sure which hitch I bought, but if you go to autoanything website and then search for Curt Liberty front hitch you should find it. It seems to work well as both a front ramp when bumping obstacles, as well a solid point for a hitch shackle.
The lift is the 4 inch JeepinbyAl lift. You can check his website for details and costs. It is a really nice lift, but not cheap. Total cost ends up close to a SFA (solid front axle) conversion. Nevertheless, I wanted independent front suspension, so I chose the JBA suspension, also adding the Dana 30 (short) steel front differential with JE Reel CV's in order to reinforce the front. The next, and last, mod I want to make is to change out the stock transfer case for an Atlas 3:1.
@infernicus1 It was probably a good idea he turned off the camera haha I could tell he seemed a bit impatient. Poor lady, shes tryin! Plus I think she wheels pretty well, I dont see enough women out on the trail.
Do you know how take out radiator or at least get at lower hose to drain? Drain plug small rather pull hose. Might put mine up for sale if I can get some chaching for new truck.
did you have any problem with your transmission ? some say they are fragile ? i am planning of selling my Colorado and buy a used CRD. Nice truck you have. Gef
William-- quick question...I'm going to be looking at an '05 CRD here on Oahu as I'll be moving to the Big Island where 4WD is needed to reach certain areas like Waipio Valley. At the beginning of the video you say, "Turn the front lockers on..."-- is there a factory control for this or did you add it as part of your list of mods? Mahalo!("thank you" in Hawaiian)
Aloha. Yes, there are lots of mods to this Liberty, including the addition of ARB differential locks, front and rear. If you were to consider diff locks, I suggest only doing the rear axle. If you do the front too, you should replace the factory front diff with a Dana 30 short, which is much stronger.
Does it have a bit of a wrist pin knock when you 1st start yours and then it goes away after it warms up? Mine has 84,000 miles just bought it and wondering if it's normal. It drives great otherwise. Thanks. Nice set up BTW.
I don't run those wheels anymore. They were simple cheap black wheels you can find anywhere. I now run OMF custom wheels, one set of fake beadlocks (black aluminum wheels with red ring) and one set of real beadlocks (also black aluminum wheels with red rings).
The CRD's are bulletproof if you keep up the maintenance. The engine is also used in London black taxi cabs, some of them guys have over half a million miles on the 2.8 CRD. Yeah the parts are expensive (especially for you guys outside of Europe), but the 2.8 is a tried and tested diesel engine, can't be that bad if the Wrangler later got it...
Are you in St. George Utah!? I recoginze those step ups. I've taken my Liberty up them as well. Beautiful rig you got there! Click my name and i have a video of my Liberty.
What? Why...why put all those good parts on a LIBERTY?! I mean I used to daily drive one, and they're pretty decent handling vehicles but far from being an actual offroad starter. *I bet in parts alone you could've bought and built a 9" lifted Ford Bronco with 40" tires!* (Let me guess, the wife "just HAD to keep her cute liberty"? And you wanted her to come offroading too? Pretty cool to see this combo, you NEVER see modified Liberty's.)
This guy's not even good enough to be an expert on the internet. Can't even do a proper internet search to discover the Jeep KJ is actually quite capable off-road even in stock form. With the CRD, lockers, lift, tires, and gearing it is now a very capable off-road vehicle. Don't get all butt-hurt because women mall crawl with these things. Doesn't change their off-road abilities
