Amazing POV for the Lexus SC430. I was wondering how well these cars handled in the snow because owners on FB Group mentioned they are GREAT all season vehicles. There were even a few owners whom mentioned they use their SC430 for long distance traveling as similar to using a Corvette and the SC430 is much comfortable ride. I'm interested seeing how my SC430 will perform once I get some winter tires. Appreciate the content 💯

The most satisfying part of the beginning is seeing how light the steering is. I love that so much. The second most satisfying thing is the amount of wood in this interior! I miss wood, like PROPER wood in interiors - our family car for the longest time was a 2006 A6 with dark, amber-y wood and I've loved wood in interiors ever since. Not this horrid, creaky, plasticy-feeling stuff you get nowadays, but proper, glossy wood. Some say it's an old man thing but I miss it and I'm 22. sidenote: 245/40/18 is perfect for comfort. I've got that setup on my RS3 currently. Want a little more performance though and I really just run all-seasons year round so I'm planning on going 265/35 for my next set.

For a design that's over 2 decades old, still looks good. A lot of the old 90's, early 2000's Lexus car designs didn't age well.

Chris, I did a few silly things in the snow with my mother's cars when I was young too but I did not record them and share them with the world. 😉 On a serious note, I drove RWD cars exclusively for nearly 20 years. It is remarkable how balanced some were while others never seemed to get a grip in winter conditions. My only concern with these Michelin Cross Climate tires is that they may have too much tread in the summer and burn too much gas as a result.

Love this tire. Currently on my wife's car replacing the shitty factory/OEM eco tires. We live in Michigan and she doesn't even miss AWD anymore because these tires offer so much grip. I had the first gen of the CrossClimates on my G35x ages ago. It was an absolute tank on the roads. Passing people in lanes that were snow or slush covered that people were afraid to drive on. I still recommend a dedicated summer/winter combo for a performance vehicle. But for a regular daily driver this is truly a one tire can just buy and not deal with wheel/tire swapping.

I have an 09 Es350, and my tires are on their way out. They probably got 10k left. I've done some researching and the cross climate 2s have probably stolen my heart with the tread design, the good reviews, and the solid name as I believe that Michelin is the best brand for luxury cars. The Topher has only cemented this more with this review.

7:46 the VDIM beeper makes sense as (especially newer versions) are so smooth you don't even notice a loss of control, but I can fully see that becoming potentially traumatizing for situations where VDIM CAN'T save you. For example, an "understeered-off-the-road" crash where the last thing you hear is the beeper and the modulator dithering the brakes 100x a second to try to save it... but it's just BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP-CRUNCH! Then afterwards, even if VDIM "beeped" once, one might think "OH MY GOD I'M GONNA CRASH" lol

I drive a Ford Fiesta ST and live in Detroit. I run Michelin X Ice in the winter, but with how mild and how little snow we’ve been getting in recent years, it makes me wonder if these cross climates would be the better option in a cold and mostly dry winter climate. Winter tires just often feel like overkill when I’m driving on mainly dry roads and an option like this-that’s much better to drive than X Ice-exists.
@g60corrado91
@g60corrado91 7 месяцев назад
I’ve had the same thoughts myself, especially with the little amount I drive now. I’ve got WS90’s on my GTI and the last couple of Chicago suburb winters have been pretty mild with the exception of a couple of noteworthy storms. I’ve ran winter tires since 2007 and swear by them in the snow and ice, but now that tire technology is so good, tires like the CC2’s and WeatherPeaks get me thinking.

I've seen some comments on videos about the CC2s where people get 80 to 100k out of them with regular rotations. I don't expect that much but they do seem to last a long, long time.

i got those for my mild climate and being in an apartment (no space for dedicated tire; it been hitting 65 in jan and feb far too often), it perform really admirably on wet and snow. Although i found on ice side-to-side its a bit eh but otherwise it's definitely great tire for 95% of the condition.

I have these on most of my cars. Turning, stopping and going up inclines in snow are no where close to blizzaks. But much better than stock oem all season tires. But for 99% of the year when there’s no snow, cc are much better.
@shamalabadingdong
@shamalabadingdong 7 месяцев назад
It's expected that these tires would perform better than the dws06+ in the snow. The dws is basically the highest tier of performance for an all season tire. The cross climates are all weather tires, and even in their category they are exceptional in the snow. The dws will be significantly better and sportier in the dry and wet than the cc2. The cc2's will be way sportier than a winter tire in the dry and wet though. I'm personally going to be moving from a ps4s + performance winter setup to a 200tw (summer daily) and a cross climate 2 for winter, due to how good these are in the shoulder months

Man, the SC430 has been one of my favorite cars since I got into cars! It really is the underdog after it was unfairly given the title of the "Worst Car in the History of the World" by Top Gear back in the day. Last year I was SO close to buying one, but I ended up being swayed towards a 986 Porsche Boxster which don't get me wrong I LOVE my Boxster and it's an awesome daily, but something about the interior and just driving experience of a Lexus of this generation man. You can't beat it! Hmmmmmm maybe I look into an SC430 again 🤔🤔🤔

@xclear1874
@xclear1874 6 месяцев назад
@@danielchristopherdc Don't get me wrong man the Boxster S is a GREAT car and the 987? Can't go wrong with it. The only thing you'll have to understand is it's WAYYYY different than an SC430. It's a lot more harsh of a drive, it's a legit sports car, and it feels way quicker than an SC. If you want to I'd say go right ahead they're awesome cars! The only thing to REALLY keep in mind, is that even though it is older, Porsche parts/labor will end up biting you in the rear. Even though my Boxster is 25 years old, even when parts aren't expensive, some jobs that are just simple on a Lexus take like twice as long on the Boxster. Either car, a great choice however!
