IN SOME OF THE G6S YOU HAVE TO CHECK YOUR SHIFT LINK THEY GO OUT SOMETIME AND IF YOUR CAR IS NOT READING IT'S IN PARK IT WON'T CRANK UP PUT IT IN NEUTRAL OR DRIVE AND THEN TRY TO CRANK UP
Definitely your starter solenoid bro, make sure that’s the part of the starter that you’re hitting when you go to lay hands and tools upside it lol. For anyone that doesn’t know, the solenoid is the smaller unit that’s usually on top of the starter, looks identical otherwise but 1/3 to 1/2 the size…will have a few wires attached. It’s almost always the culprit of starter struggles
My neighbor lady called one day says she is at the mall and the car won't start. I get there and as she is getting out of her car I say no get back in. I tell her to put the car in neutral and start the car. She has a questioned look on her face as starts her car. All she needed to do was get the Pontiac garage to readjust the start position on the shifter console. She was amazed and happy and I was glad to help.
In my case it was the shifter link cable snapped in half so leaving the car stuck in M2 and not park hopefully this saves you guys time cuz I don't think he ever gets to the point
My g6 does this every once in awhile. I unhook the positive terminal wait 30 seconds and put it back on. And it starts right up. Them GM's are bad about bad grounds
While one persona holds the key in the starting position, hit the starter from a safe angle as the car might being to start. If it does, REPLACE the starter.
I got a Pontiac G6 2007 change the fuse for the radio have my tester with me connected to the ground touched a hot wire and half on my board don’t want to turn on I got a couple of things to turn on headlights honk but my car won’t start what can I look for
Driving my pontiac just did the down payment work just fine other than the brake lights didn't shut off until I hit the break few seconds it came back on. However few miles later my dash when black I stopped the car turned it off, tryed to start an wouldn't start. So we knew it wasn't battery bc we just bought a brand new one few hrs b4 that. We try a jump nothing just a click, had to tow it home.
After it starts up take the negative cable off the battery. It it keeps on running, your alternator is good or you can test out the voltage with the car running. Should be around 14...
I have a Pontiac G6 2007 and I drove all the way to LA back to Orange County and the car stopped about a mile before I got home went to go get it off the freeway the next day and it started right up now I’ve replaced the fuel pump tried to start it went good for three days stop me again I wonder if that is the starter as well everybody is telling me to get rid of the car it’s at 170,000 miles please help me. The battery is dead. I changed the fuel pump.
It's not the starter if it died out on you. Try cleaning your battery terminals and make sure they are tight. Test out your alternator and starter at autozone to see if the output is normal. Try running a line from the alternator to the battery if the alternator is good. Check your ground wire to make sure that it is free of corrosion and connected to the frame.
It could be the Car security system not recognizing your Key. I had an issue with a GM vehicle where I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start, changed a bunch of shit out and come to find out it was the factory car security system.
Starter needs a heat shield if it gets too hot it won't start because it's close to the catalatic converter I have the same car it happened to me I had to replace my starter

@@roberttemple9899 If you have 12v accessories in the 12 volt socket disconnect them. Also try this. Take the serpentine belt off and try to start it. Sometimes a seized pulley can freeze everything.
I had the starter changed and it started right up . Went to autozone and now I need new intake manifold gaskets.. 🤦🏽♀️ go figure. When it rains it pours.
@@treezalynn1 Any codes? I have 0171 & had a guy just come out and tell me it's the oxygen sensor. I'm starting the cheaper route first 😂 I Just purchased the downstream sensor. We shall see.
I already did this whole elimination process in 2 minutes... hoping this 1 click fixed part was in the video. Instead I'm watching an exhausted fellow having a hard time even speaking for 16 minutes. I had the same problem. Replaced the battery. Turned the ignition on and the lights, AC, radio came on but as soon as I cranked it to start, everything shuts down. 1 click and dies. Disconnected battery and connected again and car powers up again. Mine was a simple fix actually. My shifter moves so I played with the shifter a bit and eventually put it back on park. Cranked the car again and boom it started. For some reason the car was thinking it was left on drive on the shifter.
I just had a transmission fracture recall on my 2007 Pontiac G6 which GMC took care of. They also had the recall on the brake lamp. So they took care of that my car will not start the battery’s dead everybody’s telling me just get rid of the car I bought it from an auction last year and I put 20,000 miles on it plus
