Damn I miss Stephanie, whether she did good things or bad things! 😁She was the queen of the show! Why did Susan have to retire? 😔The show hasn't been the same without her 😢
Susan Flannery gave her whole LIFE with this scenes! She and John McCook are the quintessential "old married couple," and when they discuss their history this way it brings into glaring light the pain they have caused to one another over the years. But there is also beneath all that a great love, admiration, and respect for one another that makes the pain all the more real. Short of GL's Alex and Roger, I really don't think there was another daytime couple like them.
I was 25 when this aired, and I remember absolutely loving it. But it hits different 18 years later, after going through something similar in my own marriage. When she said she didn't even know who she was, that stuck a cord in me. I think she was speaking to all of us well deserved bitter women who helped a man get to where he was, only to be cheated on and treated like crap. I miss her on the show, she was something else!
I love this scene. Stephanie is Queen. But what fascinates me is that some of this would actually be very comedic if a live audience were reacting to it like with a sitcom.
Yeah. It's pretty much unwatchable now. It's just about a bunch of pretty young things who can't act their way out of a paper bag. Susan Flannery made that show what it was.
When Susan Flannery retired from B&B I could not imagine the downward quality of storylines that would become repeated and recycled and just 🥱. 😱 Stephanie Douglas Forrester retired , but not forgotten.
For decades Eric hid the trust document that Stephanie's father left for her; they had to get Catherine Chancellor to remember and validate it. The company should was to never be owned by anyone except Stephanie, Eric and their children. So many people, like the Logan sisters, praise Eric for being so loyal, oh so trusting and honest. Where were any of those traits for the woman he had 5 children with? Eric is the original patriarch Ho of the show. Any woman that can hate on Brooke so much and overlook the sins of the men of that family has some self-love and self-validation issues.
Eric has cheated on stephanie many times but if it were not for eric cheating the first time she Stephanie would be with Mossimo the bio father of her first born.
Some have forgotten the story between Stéphanie and Eric. Stéphanie never handled Eric with his pregnancy. She really thought Eric was the father. That’s why when she learned the truth in the Ridge accident 40 years later, she was shocked that Massimo was his father. It was Eric who played a double game between two girls and John Douglas’s money. If Beth was the love of his life, Eric would never have cheated on her and he would never have been able to date Stephanie and Beth at the same time. Eric was already a man who thought only with his fly. Massimo is a longtime friend of Stéphanie Forrester. The two had attended college with Eric and Beth. Massimo and Stéphanie dated before she met Eric. Stéphanie has left Massimo because she does not consider him as her great love, but a simple friend. At that time, Stéphanie and Eric met in high school, she a freshman and he was a senior student. Eric went out with Stéphanie and Beth at the same time. Eric and Stephanie had an intimate relationship together, while Eric was in a relationship with Beth. Eric to cheat on his girlfriend Elizabeth Henderson (later Beth Logan). Eric has decided to end his relationship with Stephanie and be with Beth. But, Stephanie learns that she became pregnant with Ridge because she thought her last intimate relationship with Eric confirmed that he was the father of her son. Stephanie told Eric that he was the father of her child and she believed it too.
Massimo is a character that came out of nowhere. Also it's a rewrite. Check out Bridget's paternity storyline. When Eric and Ridge got tested their DNA was too close of a match. Stephanie had to get tested because she wasn't related to Bridget. If Ridge wasn't Eric's son then it would have been revealed then too. Plus when Thorne shot Ridge he got blood, from Eric, which matched! Once Massimo was introduced Ridge and Eric didn't match anymore. I know that this is fiction, but not even DNA can be changed.
Susan Flannery was a wonderful actress who played Stephanie well, BUT... Stephanie could have left Eric anytime she wanted to, and still had a good life. She chose to stay married to a man who obviously cheated on her, and put herself through unnecessary pain, and I blame Stephanie just as much for the problems in their marriage as much as Eric. She didn't have stand around and take his garbage. I know a lot of women who wouldn't!
Agreed. My only complaint is Stephanie never had flings of her own with maybe younger men. Flannery being a lesbian was probably the reason for minimal male scenes other then with mcook
@rain73ful In many ways Stephanie was a product of her times. Keep your word no matter what. Queen Elizabeth II comes to mind- it is common knowledge that Prince Phillip has been unfaithful many times, but she kept her stiff upper lip.
Stephanie knew nothing about the trust as her father didn't tell her anything about it. Eric then hid the paperwork from her and everyone else. Stephanie only found out when she was preparing to pack up and leave for Florida and she discovered the paperwork. Stephanie was right when she said that Eric had cheated all of them time and time again. He allowed stocks to be shared out and even bought knowing that under the terms of the trust Stephanie owned everything.
