2005 TOYOTA PRIUS hack / triangle of death, dash warning & VSC light / ERROR / 'easy' RESET TRICK 

All is well after 4 months. I've had to do this a couple more times but I'm over 2,500 miles further down the road. In my situation, it seems like a good practice to simply disconnect the battery once every couple weeks. That has seemed to help my problem here. The last time errors came up was back in early September. Unfortunately, I then forgot to keep the back hatch open and closed it after disconnecting the battery to go in a store. When I came back out, I couldn't get the hatch open so had to climb in from the back passenger door. Its a dumb move on my part but in a couple minutes I had the battery reconnected, back hatch opened right up like usual and rolled back onto the highway. Like I said, this happened over 6 weeks ago... all has been well since. Its possible that my disconnecting the battery before long drives has helped prevent the errors from occurring further. I'm sure if I just left the battery connected, the VSC and death triangle would reappear at some point. Currently though, if I see those warning lights pop up, I know exactly what to do so the stress is far less than it used to be. Still getting between 49 to 52 mpg... one day last week I had 67mpg for the first 21 miles after filling up. Can't beat that.
