Man this just saved me tons of time trouble shooting. I was only like 30 seconds into the video and already got my answer. Didn’t know there was a ecu reset function. That did the trick for me. Thank you so much sir!
Bless you sir, you just saved me like $350 for a new motor. Had to repeat the process 3 times, giving the motor a few good walks, but then bam, window works! Made my day.
2007 Toyota Sequoia. This worked like a charm. All the symptoms were spot on and I was able to follow the steps. Window motor clicked and got warm etc. I had to try banging the motor twice to get it to release, but it's now working perfect. My steps. 1) ECU reset per video 2) take off plastic panel and metal plate covering motor (5 minutes) 3) give the motor a few good whacks 4) confirm ECU reset 5) roll down window / rejoice! 6) put everything back together (10 minutes) Thank you for posting this!!!
I just try this after watching your video and just wanted to say "it worked". Thank you for making this video and sharing with others that have problems like this. You save me a lot of money by not taking it to the dealership. Thank you Thank you!!!!
after saw your video, do Exactly what you said, pulled the rear window switch for 10 second, fixed my not working rear window wiper and defroster ,thank you !
I just encountered this issue with my 2006 Sequoia that hasn’t been driven regularly in 9 months just sitting in the driveway and just found this video. I’m gonna try this tomorrow and see if this works. Thank you.
@@MrPeller80yup it worked! And I heard the clicking when I pushed the button up or down so I’ll have to try tapping the window motor. Haven’t tried that yet but at least the wiper and defrost works now. I don’t use the back window up or down a lot of any so I’m good for now 👍🏼
This fixed it. Just removed the trim, removed the plate covering the part, and it was right there. Gave it a few whacks with a small steel pry bar and now my window works.
Best video I've seen on this (or most repairs) yet. You cut right to the chase and easily explained things to try or watch for as well as mentioning the other tricks everyone else was saying to do.
WOW, just to let you know, your video was bang on, cut to the chase, same issues with my 2006 SR5 The part about the clicking, I was able to click left and right and hear the clicking, but no movement. So, interestingly enough, the manual key in the lock, did not reset the fixed wiper and defroster, only when I tried the front up down switch, did it reset the def/wipers again. Saved me a ton of time, no big mysteries, just great coverage on your video. Thanks much!
I just had the problem of rear window, wiper, and defrost switches failing after messing with some electrical connectors. The procedure I found online was: turn on vehicle, fully roll down rear window using driver’s inside control switch holding in down position for a second, fully roll up window using same switch holding in up position for two seconds. This worked for me, but will whack the motor if this procedure doesn’t solve it in the future. Thank you and everyone who shares such videos!
@@MrPeller80 and it stopped working again after hitting a bumpy road. 🤣 I opened it and closed it about 10 times yesterday in hopes it would get things moving around. Going to open up again and hit it around some more. Such a pain.
2 week update. Still working. I use it everyday. I guess it locked up from the previous owner not using it. I won't let that happen. It's my favorite feature I miss from my 4 runner. Can't belive they nixed it from the new sequoia. Bad move toyota!
Thank you so much! I have an older Toyota Sequoia 2005. I love this car! I was dreading thinking that I had to take it to the Toyota dealer, which they would have easily charged alot of money for this easy fix! Thankful from a Southsider of Chicago.
Thanks man I didn’t know what it was the problem till I saw your video. Wiper works and defrost works but no the window, had to replace the expensive motor. Thanks man👍
Wow! My rear wiper stopped working on my Sequoia 2005, and I was all set to head to the dealer. I checked the defrost button after watching your video and discovered it was not functioning, so I did a reset. It WORKS! I did not test the rear window movement via the key in the back lock until after the reset. It also worked, although I rarely use the rear window so I don’t know if it was functional before the reset procure. Thanks!!!
This worked perfect on my 2005 sequoia. I did it the same day I repaired my broken rear hatch handle. I fixed the Handel, window, defrost & rear wiper. Cost $27 for handle & 2 hours of time. Easy project the dealership wanted $700 just for the handle U Bet I saved $1500 or more
Many many many thanks to your clip. Banging the hammer on that motor really helped. My rear window is now working again after 5 years... Thanks again!!!
Thanks a million.I did exactly what you said. Tapped the motor and presto, it worked! I ran the window up and down about 10 times to insure that the motor lube or whatever is clear. Thanks again
Wow! I’ve been trying to fix this on my 2006 sequoia for the last 5 or 6 years and just gave up and forget about this problem until I came across to your channel and tried it couple times.cheee hooo!!!!!it did works thank you so much bro!!god bless you
worked like a charm for us too! and so far the problem has not recurred, after just the simple window up buttton reset. We didn't even need the hammer! thanks!
I went on a trip. And the next time i used my 01 sequoia the defroster wiper and couldn’t roll it down. Also my door sensors are glitching. Gonna try this to see if that’s the case. Thank you for the video
I actually couldn’t find the button for the hatch window because I’ve never used it in the 11 years I’ve had this car and found it one day but couldn’t remember where it was. Thank you.😁
Procedure works, but the motor may be siezed up. You'll have to take the back panel off and whack the motor with a rubber mallet a few times until it works!!! I did this after the reset and now it works. Gotta reset first tho!!!
Great recipe for fixing my 2005 Sequoia! Had to do the reset and hammer action 3 times to get it to work. One thing that's odd I don't have the window brake hardware. Any ideas?
I did this and everything worked except the window. The rear wiper worked and the defroster. Then I hit the window to go down and tripped it all again. I reset again and everything worked again. Does the freezing window motor cause all of it to trip if it doesn't go down? Tomorrow I'll try to remove the panel and tap it some to see if it'll unfreeze. I just bought the seqpuia a few hours ago.
I did this and my back window works great during the summer. It is now winter time and the window is not working. And I keep having to do the EC reset.
hi there, good tip, my sequoia, now the rear whipper work, and defrost, but every time ,push the switch for , roller down the rear hatch window need the reset, again. and yes the electric motor ,is warm. but not work ,and use a litle hammer for check but nothing.
I have the same issue, what I don’t understand is if the window issue would be the window motor, why won’t the rear defroster or wiper not work? Thanks, hope you see this!
@@MrPeller80 because that’s what is causing the rear wiper and rear defrost to not work. I will reset, but the motor on the window is frozen and not working at all. Good to know what the fix is. In the meantime I have rear defrost and rear windshield wiper.
The track glide grease dries to a glue like substance. Clean and grease the track. Toyota does have a TSB to remove the brake you point too, but the real issue is the track grease.
Did this hold up or did you have to replace the motor? Also, mine stopped working along with everything mentioned but my wiper had random on when turning key off and randomly it worked on command but would never reseat itself.
Hope you see this even though this is an older video! I have a 2005 sequoia sr5 2wd I live in so cal. And we had a “hurricane” last week was working on replacing my rear latch actuator bc the rear latch would open and totally forgot to put the weather stripping back in that fall during that project. Everything in my rear latch area got wed All the electrical components Motor, small box that has the ecu for the door Am I doomed and need to replace the motor and other electrical components Window won’t roll down Key won’t unlock or lock the back latch Sorry for the long comment !
Bummer and sorry! I was staying in Ocean Beach for a week and left a week before the hurricane. Did you look at your fuses to see if they are blown? That might be it but probably is the case that the ecu may be bad due to water damage….if so you can probably source a used part including ecu and motor
@@MrPeller80 that’s a beautiful spot ! And the window isn’t going up or down at all the key won’t unlock the rear latch either Not sure how to check the fuses for that Where are those located ? I’m hoping I don’t have to buy a new electric component for the door !
@@MrPeller80 oh ok And the water was in the back so the weather stripping was off the lift gate window and all that area was exposed bc I had dismantled it all to replace the rear actuator and try to fix the window 🤦🏽♀️
@@MrPeller80 I have a 2003 Toyota Sequoia limited that I purchased a couple weeks ago. So I'm guessing someone removed it prior to my purchase of the vehicle. The real question is do I need it (brake mechanism) for operation and will the part make operation better/smoother/quieter?
