Engine light came on, drove 6 miles. Scanned my 2005 Golf TDI and got two codes: P-2108 - throttle actuator module P-0128 - coolant thermostat Found your great video.! 🙏 Question ~ what's a good company to buy parts online? Thanks for doing us all such a huge service!

Damn wish I would have watched this vid sooner 🤣 my throttle body went out 2 days ago went to the junkyard and saw that the 2010 didn't have the coolant lines so I didn't get it. Luckily I found the one with them. But damn now I know.

Yeah Man, crazy we were confused at first like why does this have coolant lines...it didnt make any sense to us. But now you know for the future or you can help somebody else out. Pass the knowledge lol

Big problem, when I push it, 5k rmp and above, my car will start blipping the throttle when I engage it, ecp light comes on, no flashing, and traction control light aswell, when I simmer down and baby it they go away, fuel pump ? Fuel filter ? I replaced the MAF today and it was doing the same thing. Might be throttle body but I think it’s something more grave. Unfortunately I’m thinking on getting rid of it

Funny enough VW did the same with their 12v VR6, is weird as they only have the coolant lines on certain motors. My retired 1.8t thankfully never had to go through such issues.

I just checked and it's now around $85. Still in the right price category. I also saw some $500 ones as well just like you said. You didn't run the engine with the old one to show how it (doesn't) run. I'm in the middle of chasing down a vacuum leak and the shop I took it to said it was the valve cover and wanted $1000 to do that. I changed the gasket myself and also the PCV valve and it's still surging. That shop also mentioned the throttle body so I took it out to clean it and I haven't put it back together again. I don't think it's actually the throttle body though, it doesn't look that bad. I'll just keep replacing things until it starts working. Cheapest things first of course.

There no such thing as the TB doesnt look bad it can look great and still be non-functional. Connect a code readr and see what comes back. If you dont have one I mean its almost manadted with a VW, anyways, check your local Autozone as they usually do a diagnostic for free.

@@emotionalintelligence776 I forgot all about this post. I have fixed the problem and it was a mind blower. After taking everything apart and determining that nothing was wrong but still had a vacuum leak I finally found the problem. I had the intake manifold cover off and was just staring at the engine and just happened to notice something that looked like a quarter just sitting there in the engine. I fished it out and found out it was a freeze plug that had popped out into the engine. Why the VW has freeze plugs in the top part of the engine where there is no water I'll never know. I replaced that and all has been good since. All the diagnostics point to things like valves and hoses and fittings. I would have never thought the engine had a hole in it.

@@emotionalintelligence776 I talked about this problem multiple times and forgot about this comment. The actual problem was super unexpected. It wasn't any of the usual suspects. The VW has freeze plugs in the top part of the engine (no water there) and one of them popped out so there was a huge quarter sized hole in the top of the engine in the intake manifold. Being so large there was no hiss to look for I literally found it by accidend with the valve cover off and simply staring at it. I noticed a random disk laying there and thought WTF and picked it up. It looked like a bottle cap but more solid. $10 later and the engine worked perfectly. I think the shop sabotaged it for more business but this is the sort of thing you can't prove.

Since you've worked on tons of VW, are 2011 Jetta Sportswagen 2.5 L similar to the 2005 VW on this video in terms of the throttle body?

Whats up man, i didnt change mine. Mine was in pretty good shape. But yes they are rubber and Usually green. If you go to 5:35 in the video when im taking the throttle body off, you can see the gasket up on the engine where the throttle body attaches too.

Does the plate in the throttle have play. Mine has play. Like it's loose don't think it's supposed to be like that. If I tap the plate inside throttle it wiggles ain't they supposed to be tight. No play ??

This dope bought the wrong throttle body for his car!! 🤣😁😁😁 They do sell the new throttle body with the coolant intakes right on rockauto. Look it up! The reason they have the coolant lines is to heat the throttle bobdy when it is froozen in the winter.
@gtflips
@gtflips 2 года назад
The heat from the engine is way more than enough buddy. Tht small coolant line aint helping you. Nor have i heard anyone ever having a frozen throttle body.

I would first get your car scanned, check to see what the codes are, its related to your transmission. Its could be the valve body, a bad solenoid, i would definitely recommend putting a scanner on it.
