Yes. There is no way to design a sunroof with 100% functional seals. After all, it should open and close all the time without effort and in varying conditions. The sunroof being a bit leaky by design is no problem at all, but the water has to go somewhere. If that path is not functioning as it's supposed to, we have a problem on our hands.

The frustrating thing is this: Building the drains in a way that not a single vehicle will ever have these issues is not impossible, and I'd boldly say that it isn't even hard. The engineers can certainly design it that way, but once they hand their files over to the accounting department, they will say: "It can be manufactured cheaper and assembled quicker at the production line. Make changes and send us your revised designs." Why don't they make the rear drains in a different shape and put simple screw-to-tighten hose clamps on top quality hoses? The sad answer is: It would cost a couple cents more for each vehicle they build.
