I am SO GLAD to see someone ELSE struggle with a problem. I have enjoyed working on cars my entire life, but then you run across an issue like this and you feel like shooting the car with a gun….😂. Its just refreshing to know I’m not the only one who has struggled at times with repairs. I am about to undertake this exact issue with my 2019 VW Jetta SE…. Pray for me😎
Incredible video. Sorry for your struggles, but good job fixing it! Shame that we dont know the primary cause still, but you got it fixed. Having a similar problem with a friends car.
My wife loves to park under trees so the cowl drains plugged up in our 2010 Jetta. That caused water to weep into the comfort control module and destroy that. I started cleaning out behind the front fender liners when I do a tire rotation and haven't had any more problems in the front. The car also fills up both rear footwells when it rains. I have snaked out the drain lines with weed wacker line (insert line at the wheel well). That helped some because more water was able to exit via the drain lines. I've been wondering if tied a knot in the weed wacker line at the drain exit, and pulled the other end, by the sunroof, if that might snug the drain line up a bit.
Seriously needed to see this. Thank you for posting all the trial and error too. I think I have the same combination of problems with my 2011 Jetta wagon. That gunk you showed looked EERILY similar to mine
UGH! Having this issue with my 2003 Jetta wagon! Husband had some guy come and take the front apart- in the process replacing a (perfectly good) windshield. Guess what - dang thing is still leaking. Headliner coming out is next. Love the car (kept it as a second for fun, carting dogs around, etc) but sheesh.
I didn’t mention it in the video, but I cracked my windshield while I was reinstalling the plastic cowl at the bottom of the windshield. Did you try cleaning the mud and build up out from the inner fender? Like I showed towards the end of the video removing the three screws from behind the front tires
@@DeeStruggles yes we cleaned the gunk out of the fenders :) yucko. Bummer that you cracked your windshield. Thank you! Someone below mentions airbox seal.... going to look into that. :)
You stuck with it and figured it out. You’re the fucking man bro. I just got a 2000 TDI I’m gonna try everything you did. Thanks a million. Same issues as you described.
What’s the news with the TT camaro ? I had been watching that series religiously and then it just stopped. I hope you didn’t get burned out with it but I understand if you did. I hope to one day see it return. Hope you are doing well.
I have a 2004 Golf. I fixed the sunroof and thought everything was fine until I found water on the driver side floor. I resealed the plug on the driver side. I will check for leaves on the driver side.
How did you get the drain hose out of the port in the door frame? My drain connection on the end of the hose also came off, but I can't grab hold of the tube in order to pull it out and reconnect it.
No, I ran a wire down the drain hose and out the port in the frame, then lubed up the rubber drain fitting, and using the wire as a guide I pushed the fitting onto the hose. There’s some other RU-vid vids that show it done the same way.
I love your resolve. I’ve done all this myself and still have wet floorboards 2008 Jetta MK 5. I thought for certain it was the drains I’ve done everything ripped off my ceiling but the car sit in the driveway for two months came out this time. The driver side was soaking wet, so the mystery continues. Did you ever figure it out. Please help me.
😂😂 👏. I love it!! What is the issue. FML. The same problem. I have no clue and o have done all of this yes… Guess what. Still leaking. I have NO CLUE WTF IS GOING ON. I like a subscribed because this wasFN hilarious and I love the way you kept at it? 🎉
Its the carpet padding. I think you need to pull the carpet back like he did in the video and or actually remove and replace the pad under the carpet in that area with something else. Dealing with water leaks sucks, my sunroof drains are clean but I have driver area leak - guess I need to check the cowl/under windshield area.
Yo where you from I can't figure out that accent lol. I'm from new jersey. I got a 2010 Jetta piece of shit leaks like crazy I tore the carpets up and put weather tech floor mats in it and just run it like that fuck it. About to drill holes in the floor boards
