2006 BCS National Championship Game Intro 

Before the 2005 season even began, everyone knew we would see USC vs Texas at seasons end. The star power, the buildup to the game won't be matched for quite sometime. Truly a "Game of the Century" like few that came before it. I miss ABC Sports, and Keith Jackson!!

This will ALWAYS be the single greatest college football game that I have ever seen.

This is one of my all-time favorite college football intros. I loved the theme music ABC had for the Bowl Championship Series so the first 8 seconds or so really did it for me.

When ESPN ran this during the COVID sports doldrums it was incredible. Reopened peoples eyes to how good these teams were and how great the game truly was.

I actually cry every time I see an ABC Sports intro for College Football. Especially this one. Good times!

I took a copy of this intro with me to do a broadcasting assignment at the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing. Listened to it on the subway every morning of the Games and never failed to get me going.

This was such a legendary game with some of the greatest players ever. This is easily the greatest game I've ever seen.

Keith Jackson was such a pleasure to listen to no matter what sport he did; Baseball, NBA, College Football. He was absolutely fantastic. His voice was great!

2006 was a sad year sports TV. Keith Jackson retired, Al Michaels went back to NBC along with John Madden, Musburger and Jim Durham would work their last NBA Playoffs on tv and Durham would work his last NBA Finals on radio, Monday Night Football would move to ESPN, the BCS would move to FOX and Dick Enberg to #3 on the NFL on CBS just to name a few things. Some good came out of it like James Brown going back to CBS. In 2007 the only bad was the NBA's contract with ESPN/ABC/TNT extended to 2016.

UT vs USC was probably the best football game I had ever watched. Each team answered each other with a quick drive or defensive stop and it went down to the wire to determine the national champion that year. I recall jumping and yelling like crazy when Vince Young glided into the end zone. Makes me want to watch the replay again!!! =D

College football on ABC...Please bring it back.

As an OU fan this really was the end of an era of the late 90's and early 2000's era.

The ABC Sports BCS Theme music package would later be reused by Net 25 for the 2008 IRL IndyCar Series season. The intro of the 2006 Rose Bowl National Championship would become the basis of the intro of the 2008 Indianapolis 500

Texas fans. You guys are loyal to the extreme. Its not only high school football you guys have a passion for. The 2 times you have come to Pasadena you have presented yourselves as loyal and nobble as possible. I feel bad that Colt Mc Coy got injured on that play and it changed the whole ball game. All of us will never know how this 2010 championship game would have ended. However, you guys have a great team and coach and I believe you guys will be back in the mix in a heart beat.

Yes, a one man team who single handidly beat a great USC team that was so potent on offense. His performance was one of the greatest ever.

I'm a huge USC fan but this was probably the best n'tl championship game I had ever seen. I still am bitter about the 4th and 5 thing but VY is a damn beast. The build up was awesome and they lived up to it every play

Keith Jackson a lucky guy. His last ABC Sports event was one of the great events of the year, Texas Vs. USC for the National title. Al Michaels' last ABC event may have been the Super Bowl, but it wasn't a great matchup: Steelers vs. Seahawks.

they are a growing powerhouse they showed that against the hor in 05' and 09' in 2005 they lost by 11, and in 2009 they lost by 10. You watch it coming soon.

You got your whoa Nelly an the big house and touchdown calls by Keith but when I hear him say "the young sophomore " I live it.i do a fairly decent Keith impersonation an if you say whoa Nelly or touchdown Michigan or the big house ppl smile but when I throw in the young sophomore my boys go crazy.....the two most iconic booth voices hands down Howard cosell and Keith jackson.a this is Howard cosell or a whoa Nelly will always be synonymous with football. rest in peace Keith you will be missed

They forgot about them because it was the 2004 season when Auburn went undefeated. USC played Oklahoma for the championship at the Orange Bowl.

The game that lived up to the hype...

Huh? As far back as I can remember, it's always been played on a weeknight. It used to be on Monday nights. Now it's on Thursday nights, which I actually think is better.

Starting in 2011 ESPN/ABC will do the BCS games.

it goe from the miami era 80s and 90s, nebraska era 90s, usc era, florida era, next is the alabama era, and after that is the Texas a&m era.

In a one vs one competition that works, but in a team sport like football it's not as easy to make your own luck. Although one play can completely change the momentum of the whole game at times (like the USC pick six against OSU early in the year, after that OSU seemed to just lay down and get walked all over).

Hahahahahahahaha I hear that man. Yes, your team sure can lay licks and take them as well. That is why for this years BCS title game I think in the beginning Alabama was a bit surprised at your guys speed and hitting. Other than that, you guys have really turned the tide in the Big XII and I dont see it happening anytime soon. Hopefully in 4 years both our teams USC and UT can get together again and give us college fans another all time great.

Yeah, they are. But starting in January 2011 all of the BCS games (including the national championship) move to ESPN. :(

They should just play this the saturday after the rose bowl. Their ratings would be way better. Besides we already play 12 games of saturdays and it would make much more sense.

Trojan fan here. This game still hurts like hell but this game is the reason why I say VY was a better college QB than Tebow. Tell me when Tebow showed up like this in the big game. Both are comparable because they're hard running spread QB's but never once has Tebow carried his team throughout the season like VY did here.

Some of their offers has been made to Rutgers, Pittsburgh, and Texas, according to reports. And a reason why it makes sense is because the Big 10 makes really big revenue. My point was that Texas beat OU by 10 points in Oct., and I believe Texas would have matched up better against Florida.
