2006 kfx 400 start up update

@juice: Are you talking about the quad in this video? If so, trust me buddy. It was fouling out plugs right and left so I'm 100% positive it was running rich during this video. The jets were stock yes, but it was shooting flames out the pipe. I then adjusted the pilot screw and it stopped fouling plugs and had a nice plug reading with no more backfire. Someone had tried to fix this quad before me the owner said. The timing wasnt even set right when I took the head apart.

did you have trouble getting the tank back on? I can't get the holes in the tank to line up with the frame holes.

i have the same quad and last time i was out it was giving me some problems. it would start but as soon as i would give it any gas it would die right away. we think there is something in the carb but we don't know for sure. if you have any ideas it would be appreciated.

Is there some kind of trick to get the bike started

could be a number of things, pull the spark plug and see what color the tip of it is and let me know. otherwise see if it runs better with the choke on and let me know, maybe I can help you figure it out if you give me more information.

hey bro i wanted to know if you only switched the valve or you swithced the valves springs etc

Needs to be re jetted still. I don't think it's running rich if all that's done is the pipe. It's probably on the lean side. Plug chop and re jet accordingly. Probably a 150 main and maybe a 45 pilot.

Need help with my 2004 LTZ 400... Brand new stator, spark plug, and coil... no spark and no fuel getting to the cylinder. Thinking a possible bad cdi box?

I just picked up a 05 kfx 400 and I’m trying to get it running the manual doesn’t get to specific about things when I turn the engine to tdc the cam sprockets are in different positions so how do I get it timed right

are the head bolts on it dont look like it

hey man have a kfx 400 it kills the plugs left n right and it's hard to start with the electric start but u can push start it runs fine clean carb n jets ran fine when I got it then started back firing n killing the plug checked everything on it over n over

I have a 2003 ltz 400 I start it it runs perfect for 10- 20 mins then the idle slows down tile it just dies. if I give gas when I do you it bogs down and dies. I had a stuck choke cable and got it working freely and cleaned the carb. doe anyone have any clue to why it would die 10-20 min of running pitcocks ben updated vacuum blocked on carb. I know my old quad when it ran out of gas it would idle up and die so I'm sure its getting gas. I'm at a loss right now could this be the cdi box or flooding issue is there a way to test cdi?

I have a question. I have 2003 kfx 400 and after changing valves and piston rings still won't start I have no pressure on the test what can I do to fix this problem

So u sound like you know what ur talking about do u mind if ask u a couple questions

if I choke it. it hits but i also have to barley touch throttle to help it along it seems. if I don't touch gas it back fires with choke on. I then switch choke off and It hits and boom back fires switch back to choke and hit hit hit starts with choke on a but you switch choke off it idles kinda low but turn choke back on it will die. sometime it will start with choke off after trying it on then off. maybe to much air they made the lid on the air box and it has a hmf slip on. pretty sure main jet was either 135 or 140 pilot was 23 I believe. they are stock ones I'm almost sure. I just hope it's not the vavles.
