Agreed! Except I told my wife that Mike Vick was superman and we didn't have a chance. Sitting in our FEMA trailer watching the game, she was screaming in my ear, "Go to bed non-believer!). I ate crow, which does not taste anything like chicken. WHO DAT!
There are 2 that can compare….only 2: Tino Martinez and Scott Brosius hitting 2 out game tying 2 run HRs in the bottom of the 9th on back to back nights at Yankee Stadium in the 2001 World Series just after 9/11. This is what made me a Saints fan. Seeing the Saints give New Orleans the distraction and hope for a few hours every week just as the Yankees did for New York after 9/11.
I’m a Falcons fan. I still remember this game. Where I was at, who I was with and I’ll be honest it was the only damn time in my 20+ years of being a Falcons fan I was on the down low rooting for the Saints. That night and game went way beyond being a fan
Though he has never played on a team I even kinda liked, I’ve been a Drew Brees fan since 1998. He’s the standard to which we should all strive towards and hold ourselves too. Whenever I hear people bash sports and say they do not matter, I give them this story. I then show them the story of Steve Gleason and why it still and always will matter. I’m an Indiana kid, a Colts fan always, so yes SB44 hurt. But honestly, the infectious joy and what this team provided to a city could not be ignored. It’s one thing to give happiness to a town or city, it’s another to turn it into a community. Amazing Grace, how sweet that sound, a thud, a roar, a wave of pride. It saved people’s ability to hope and spread positivity, and it’s an immortal example of how to live.
God bless brother. Just know a lot of people in southeast Louisiana have a soft spot for the Colts especially when Peyton was there. If we would have lost SB44 I don’t think we would have wanted to lose to any other team other than Indy led by Peyton as well as Louisiana Native Reggie Wayne. Also I can promise everyone was rooting for y’all in SB41 as well
saints are my favorite team and i love this video. the memories man. i was so little when watching this live the first time and i remember me and my mom and dad just cheering the whole time. thanks for making this video
I reflect on this moment a lot...A city that had nothing had so much hope that night. As Drew Brees career is coming to an end i’m so saddened and happy at the same time. I can embrace the memories he gave to our city, All the accomplishments he made, and most importantly bringing New Orleans a super bowl. A lot of people don’t understand why Drew means so much to our city but they don’t understand because they weren’t there. He single handily changed New Orleans forever. Thank you Drew Brees.⚜️🖤
This was hands down the most important game in Saints franchise history. Not just the city, but the ENTIRE region needed that win so bad! It's hard to imagine New Orleans losing the Saints! Thank God everything worked out! #WhoDat
Katrina was the best thing that happened to that team. A total rebuild that actually worked for the next 16 years. Now, not so much. Fun while it lasted though.
The blocked punt by Gleason always gives me goosebumps. Unbelievable memory for the Saints and the city of New Orleans. Hard to believe that this game was fifteen years ago. I’m a Giants fan and this was the second best game in Saints history aside from Super Bowl XLIV.
I remember watching that game. I was so emotional when they blocked that punt. Brees and his team put the crowd on their back and carried them throughout the season.
I watched this game live. I'm here again for the umteenth time watching this video (play). Crying as I always do. You know the back story. One of my favorite emotional football moments. Like everyone nationwide. I was a Saint that night.
Someone told me that tragedies may happen and all hope may be lost, but some good will come of it. The Saints saved New Orleans and I’m so grateful to be a fan, I love you New Orleans.
Being a Saints fan all my life, this is the proudest moment to me. Its 2020 and this play still gives me goose bumps. I've never so proud of my team and my city...WHO DAT!
I remember this like it was yesterday. Knowing no way the saints lost this game. The punt play was amazing to watch. Still gives me goosebumps! Stay safe down there 2021!
Fellow Lions fan here. Watched this game live at a bar in Wyandotte with friends. The Saints became my second favorite team right at that moment, and almost became my favorite when my loyalty to the Lions came into question around 2010-11.
As a life long Saints fan who had spent a full year by that time recovering from losing everything in Hurricane Katrina, I can’t tell you how uplifting this moment was. Literally, everything in our world felt destroyed or broken. Debris was still visible on every block; people were still waiting on insurance money to build back. Crippling depression was running rampant through the community. This was the first real sign that there was light at the end of the tunnel. I still choke up thinking about how much that blocked kick meant to the city of New Orleans.
@@0Clewi0 who just came back from a supposed to be career ending injury at that. No not only was it a great block it Shows his heart and his will to do anything to win
I haven't forgotten about this game back in 2006, no no no! The Saints played an incredible game vs the Falcons, Hurricane Katrina didn't stop their season. It made them grow stronger and better for their first NFL game inside their home turf: The Superdome!
I Loved that game, but I still love Joe horn was my favorite player for the saints. I from New Orleans & loved our Superbowl run but still didn't like the way he left
As a Falcons Fan this was bittersweet for me. I had family on NO when all that went down. They relocated back to my hometown in GA but it still was a major event for them and me. What I didn't know was a moment like this would lead them to something great even tho I said San Diego was complete idiots for letting Drew walk. With that being said I need that W in NO. Atlanta should see this as disrespect for them cause the world will be expecting a repeat performance. We can not let that happen
I don't know what 3 moments was better this blocked punt , Hartley's field goal to send us to the SuperBowl or Tracy Porter's pick six in the SuperBowl....
Not a saints fan but I understand the significance of this play and game for New Orleans. This essentially turned the saints into a winning team and contender. I also didn’t know they almost moved to Texas which makes this play even more significant
Pretty successful team for the next 15 years after that. It was fun while it lasted. Now they are back to having no identity like they did before this game back to 1967. What an era.
