Sorry for the delayed answer. It is a closed system threfore no fluid change is necessary. Just remember, roof may have leaks and when they do, water accumulates in the lowest area of the truck where the top motor is. So check for leaks, check where the motor is for water, check if the is rust accumulating on the motor best of all, clean all the roof drains so the water can drain to the ground.
You don't need to replace the whole assembly. It is too much money $1600. All you needed was to remove the electric motor and rebuild the motor. It is very easy. I removed my 2014 428i. Took off the motor apart and cleaned it. It is working now with $0.
Khosraw Ragheb well thanks to this comment.. you might have saved my bank lol. Could you please contact me directly? I want to let you know what my top is doing, maybe you can tell me what the issue is?
@@juliancamano4424 hello Julian. I'm not a technician but, I replaced the motor only, because water had got in the electric motor. Everything else in the assembly are new and in good shape. The car has only 9000 miles. Please tell me what your car is doing I might could guess something.
Khosraw Ragheb sorry I just saw this! If you can call or text me I can give you my number in direct message. My top will unlock but then will not go down so I am thinking it is the motor that lifts the top. But I have no clue which motor that is or how to remove it to rebuild haha. Please help! Have not opened my top in almost half a year!

I thought I covered pretty much everything in summary. I didn’t want a long video to bore people to death. It worked beautifully upon replacement. Did you have questions?
Turk Bektas hi there, I appreciate posting it on. I’m about to do mine on 2014 428i. Pretty much the same mechanism. Do you have to bleed the lines? Because I thought just like brake lines need bleeding I was wondering this may need bleeding. I will appreciate your thoughts on this. Thank you Moe
@@khorag3193 no don't bleed the lines. in fact none of this is necessary. I just replaced the electric motor. very easy. only 3 screws! i replaced it with a reconditioned motor. leave all the hydraulics and lines in place and just replace the motor. change the fluid first. good luck
