So, I got this Idea from @Matt's Off Road Recovery when they were giving away a Harbor Freight Badland Apex 12000 winch. I did not win one :-( But I looked into installing one on my 2008 Suburban and could fine nothing on RU-vid. I did find a Rough Country hidden winch plate for a GM Silverado from 2007 to 2014 and someone that said they installed that plate on the Suburban with "modifications". So, here is my first RU-vid video...
Some things to note:
1. If you use the Rought Country winch it will be easier. That winch is about an inch shorter and a bit smaller so no mods to the plate or plastic above the where the winch sits.
2. I like my trap door for accessing the controls, but you could use other methods as well.
3. This worked for my 2008 suburban and should work for the 2007 to 2014 Suburban or Tahoe.
4. REMEMBER to put on the fairlead on BEFORE the plastic front bumper cover. I was able to slip the bolts behind the fairlead into the plate holes and put the nuts on from the outside, but it was quite the job.
Enjoy and please comment, subscribe If I get just 1000 views, I'll but myself a tripod!
