The look of bullbars that mount in this fashion(bottom of bars going under bumper) look Stupid IMO. The Bullbar should have fasteners that attach the bottom directly to the tow hook mounts, making it look as though the bars come right from the frame. Like they are a direct extension of the frame itself. Much cleaner look, IMO.
2009mechanic this sounds dumb but when I remove my two bolts it seems stuck, I’m unsure why and don’t think anything else is attached to my tie hooks. Any suggestions? Ps. This is my first time doing anything mechanical. (08 Silverado)
So my theory is If you can put the brackets on with out removing all of the extra stuff and bumper why can't you pull the tow hooks with out doing all of that too ?
To be fair, filming these videos for you guys with a lift is a *LOT* easier then trying to get proper camera angles with jack stands. 😁 This absolutely can be installed at home with hand tools though! -Zach
You can get right to the tow hook bolts without removing the bumper and grill? You even took off the bumper brackets when the bolts were clearly accessible right behind the bracket???
Will Mix I have a 2015 Silverado with hooks already. I bought a tyger bull bar, and I’ve seen some videos of other bars. No one removed the grille and everything. I’m pretty sure you don’t have to remove all of it, am I right?
Sadly no, these bull bars are meant for cosmetic purposes. Not really for pulling anything. A full grill guard is your best bet for anything functional that you want to pull. But for the price and looks I like the bull bar. Hope this helps
Does anyone know if any company makes bull bars for trucks that sell for less than a 500% price mark up? Looking for one that is just reasonably priced.
Barricade actually has their plane, 3.5" Bull Bar w/ Skid Plate on SALE right now for $111.99. Pretty reasonably priced if you ask me. 😉 -Zach www.americantrucks.com/barricade-35-oval-bull-bar-w-skid-plate-black-07117.html
What you say is True for a 07-13. Not for the 14-18. On the newer ones The short tow hook bolts are accessible, but the bumper brackets block the long tow hook bolts from being removed. Although both my trucks are GMCs. Maybe there is a slight difference with the Chevys.
Waaaaay too much work for a non-functional, cosmetic piece that serves no purpose! When you're stuck, you'll regret removing your tow bars cause that bull bar won't help you.
