Man I miss this Big 12. I grew up in Kansas City, MO, but loved weather and eastern Oklahoma so I rooted for OU. There was so much talk between my family and friends. The rivalry between Mizzou, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas was next level. I was so disappointed when Colorado, Nebraska, and Mizzou left. The Big 12 hasn't been the same since. These were the "good ol' days" and we didn't even realize it. Texas really screwed this conference.

And I’ll clarify for you - Texas has NO excuse for not destroying that pitiful conference every year during that decade. The North was a constant joke, and all Texas had to do was take care of business and eliminate ou. Instead they messed around and didn’t go into those games with the right mindset, which should’ve been to absolutely humiliate you people. So as a result, we let y’all squeak in to play B12 North chumps and win conference titles. It should’ve always been Texas, but right coaching and culture were simply not in place.

It's crazy that Missouri was one game from going to a national title! I remember not even being nervous as a Sooner fan. I knew we were going to beat them. Chase Daniel was freaking out like a cry baby
BCS was a wild time. It was chaos again the following year in the Big 12 with a 3-way tie. No one even considered Texas Tech so it came to Texas or OU. Even though Texas beat OU, they gave it to OU. "L" column and the timing of that "L" were crucial. Also, remember "style points"? It was a rough time for the little colleges.

Had to sit behind a group of 6 Tiger fans that did nothing but talk trash the entire game until Finley's 4th qrtr TD that put OU up by 21. They spent the rest of the game bad-mouthing Pinkel and the Mizzou defense. Good stuff.
I was watching this game live at 16. It was a crazy year of college football. College football at its best. #2 West VA lost that night as well because Pat White got hurt against Pittsburgh.
Missouri fans spent their entire time talking before and during the game. After the game. Upon leaving they were no where to be found! Can’t spell Mizzou without OU!!!!!!!

Why they ever put Missouri at number 1. I'll never know. OU had already beaten them convincingly the week after a tough game with Texas, who was also better than Missouri just didn't play them. This was probably the only time I would ever go into a game against a number 1. team not only sure we'd win but sure we'd win big, and we did.

@@omega-manthe8346 As if Kansas had any business being that high. They didn't have to play OU or Texas, both of whom they'd obviously get crushed by as Missouri did to OU twice. OU and Texas were the top two teams in the Big 12 that season. That was the real Big 12 Championship game.
