I just bought a 2005 545i I love it great power and quiet good for commuting, I had a e46 330i 6psd manual I loved that car but someone ran a stop sign and totaled it
Excellent review I'm sold I love the BMW and infinity and was gonna decide between this and m45 infinity and I think I'll upgrade from my BMW 325ci with this 5 series thanks a lot !
Hey man! Very nice review of the 550i. Very helpful! Oh and btw I was wondering if you could give me your advice on my video of the 5 series. Mine is a 2006 with the M5 look. Thanks in advance man and great continuation.
@Drew f I bought a 2008 bmw 550 msport in 12/2020 and so far it needed alternator bracket seal gasket, upper timing chain cover gaskets, valve cover gaskets, various other power steering seals, new drive belts due to the oil leaks from failing gaskets, and the coolant transfer pipe repair. The car has 110k miles and was in overall very good shape minus these neglected items which are basically maintenance items on this car. That being said I got it cheap with new tires and brakes installed and all in after these rather pricey repairs, this will be a fantastic old beast of a car for under $10k. If you are a DIY guy these repairs would cost much less because the parts are cheap but the labor is extensive!!! I bought this old beast to finally experience a V8 and it is a blast to drive! Fast, comfortable, great handling, amazing stereo, etc. etc. I am giving it to my son when he starts driving in a year.
What you driving these days? Im sure the Bravada is LONG gone.. lol like my Trailblazer... got rid of that at the beginning of 08 and slowly drifted into the sports sedan segment... fitted my driving and lifestyle better although I do miss the old TB from time to time... :(
I got rid of that junk heap, but now I just have a 04 GTO. A lot has changed over the years, and now I'm trying to find a decent cheap little run around car.
Hey, I've been thinking of buying this car used. I've heard many horror stories concerning maintenance of old BMW's, so I wanted to know your input. Have you had any major problems with this BMW (like transmission failure, CC went out, etc.)? What should I look out for when buying this used?
don't know why e60 had such bad reviews in the looks department. I love the look especially with the sports package. I have an 07 550 I and I love it I have also owned and E39 both great cars.
Bryan you should find me on facebook. Would like to keep in touch with ya! GTO sounds fun! My dad had an 09 Corvette for a little while and added headers, full exhaust, and a tune... amazing what kinda power those LS motors can make with simple bolt ons lol. What you all got done to the goat??
The "small screen" idrive is idrive without navigation option, the "big/wide screen" is idrive with the navigation option (in the US) Some people didn't want to pay for navigation so they had the basic "small screen" I'd pay for navi gation just to have the larger screen as its a luxury car it looks better with the big screen (I know this because I have a 2005 5 series)
That's incorrect. 2004-2005 was the 545i model with a 325hp engine. In 2006, BMW introduced the 550i with a 360hp engine which replaced the 545i. The 550i carried over into the lci until the end of the e60 era in 2010. The special gear shift in the lci is just a change in appearance of the gear selector; same transmission and engine as the pre-lci 550i.
I hope thats covered under warranty lol. I like the BMWs, but the STUPIDEST crap can go out on the ones with all the tech features. Like, that should not be going out lol. Then its a billion dollars to fix...
Be careful not to buy these cars with high mileage EVERY N62 bmw will need Valve Stem Seals and it's a huge job so just beware but they are amazing cars other than that
+Jeremiah Anthony that's for coolant pipes, if your gonna go through all the trouble of removing all 8 seals in order to apply it you might as well change the seals which cost about 8 bucks each. The problem is getting there and then getting the heads back on
