Touring Josh's Car: A 75k Mile BMW 535i Review 

I got a 535i with 138k miles 6 months ago. Its a superstar minus the ecu caps blowing out and the starter randomly dying one morning. Happened within 2 weeks of each other. Id be mad but its a 10 year old car with that many miles. Blast to drive

Awesome car, just got an 09 bout 3 months ago. It has the same engine as the 335i, which has been nicknamed the new Supra for its tunability.

I put the last 125k miles on my 06 530xi. My car now has 254k. It`s still a very nice driver. I`ve done my share of replacing worn parts. No sedan I`ve driven drives as good.

Also have this car in 6 speed manual, platinum grey, sport pkg. Another feature that you may not know is the 6 preset buttons are not just for the radio, can make them be a destination, a person to call, etc. Placing your finger over the buttons but not pressing will show on screen what they do.

the sport also makes the auto tranny shift differently and it changes the RPM's,making it more agressive. I use it in town,and use the paddle shifter. The Sport Pkg is well worth it.

I own same car, same color. My sport wheels bent, and the aftermarket wheels I purchased also bent. Then I purchased some M5 wheels used and the offset would not even allow them to be mounted. Have been searching for a soloution, and considering 19's. this video is very informative. Also the camber of the rear was set that it wore the insides to steel cord. Very frustration.

Also there is some reasonable wheel shops to get them straight. I am a Cerakote applicator, and can refinish and recoat to any of hundreds of colors.

Josh, the seats do fold down 40/60 , leavers are the trunk!

I have an 08 535xi wagon. It’s awesome, fast and versatile. 0-60 in 4 seconds. (Yes I timed it myself.) Also, if you get the wagon, you can fold down the back seats and fit a ton of stuff back there. It’s the ultimate sleeper car.

Well I messed up and didn't get about half these features on my 2010 535i 😅

I have my wife in an '08 535i, base model. She loves it. The maintenance & repair costs are stupid, however. Just ridiculous. But, you have to completely stay on top of every issue, and address every issue immediately. As well, the best practice is dealer servicing (AutoHaus in St. Louis, for us). It's more expensive, but you can use coupons and take advantage of the dealer's maintenance and service specials (Spring & Fall service events offer a 20% discount on labor and parts - I get all my maintenance done during a service event). We've had to do the HPFP, the electric water pump, the oil cooler/pump, etc. - all the standard N54 stuff. I've been through so many independent BMW specialist shops in St. Louis, I could write a book. They all suck, and they're all crooks. Settling on just taking it to the Dealer for service and repair is the best decision I've ever made as a BMW owner. We've owned many BMW's through many years, because my wife won't drive anything else, at least not voluntarily. After every BMW death, I tell her her, "We are never buying another BMW!" Low and behold, we get her another BMW. She just will not drive anything else. I don't get it. I drive a Ford Escape. With regard to the e60 with the N54 twin turbo, they are stupid fast. It's a rocket ship. It's absolutely exhilarating to drive. Be that as it may, the wheels you put on yours, Josh, are horrible. Different strokes for different folks, but really? Keep 'em stock, people. They are completely bad ass from the factory, and to put components on them that are not factory-approved is irresponsible. As well, you're going to need that money for maintenance and repair. Josh's wheels may have come off another e60, but they look ridiculous without the M5 body modifications. Nice work on this video, though, Josh. I feel the same as you about how Bangle's design was so controversial initially, but seems to be so mainstream and universally attractive now. The main thing, however, is the N54 twin turbo is a F'n rocket ship. I have my wife in a car that is safer than almost every other sedan on the road, as fast as, if not faster than, any other 4-door sedan on the road, and we got it for what we would have paid for a 5-yr. old Ford Focus. Now, we've paid just as much as the purchase price in 3 yrs. on maintenance and service, but that's the deal with BMW's, particularly BMW's with twin turbo-charged engines.

I'm looking to get one of these from years 2008-2010, just worried because i hear the 535's I-6 turbo is unreliable, but the 550i's are hard to find and the 528i's lack power.

I own a 2005 BMW 530i which I absolutely love. So your taste in cars is awesome. I have one issue with the car that you may have dealt with. I need to replace one of the front angel eyes parking lights and there is a wiring issue with the license plate bulbs stopping them from coming on. The annoying thing is I constantly get loud chimes through the idrive system regarding both these items. How do you silence these chimes ? I am getting sick of hearing them and any help would be greatly appreciated.
