Have 2007 Cadillac. Carpeting was so dirty, I had to use a hose and suck up all the extra water. But then my windows wouldn't roll down or up after this happen. You were right about the three wires and the two wires joining together one was broken right off. Soldered wires back together, and taped it very well. Fantastic my windows go up and down perfectly!!! Thank you for the awesome advice. And have a great week period and a fabulous year.
Just letting all know the harnessed wires are NOT the 2 sets of wires you'll see going to the fuse box ! The wires that need the repair are slightly forward of those and kinda right under the rear of the front seat. Did this repair today, and it worked....
This should be a RECALL... Took me a bit to figure this out, but it is an obvious engineering design flaw without a doubt(actually it looks so poor, that it almost seems like an intentional booby trap).
It's possible that as the wires fall apart they will arc to ground instead of simply going open. There are fuses and a circuit breaker in the rear fuse boxes, you can trade the CB from the power seats to the one for the windows if it's suspected that the breaker has failed
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair if I'm not mistaken then the fuses should be on the front. but I have another question. do these two cables power anything else? are they only for windows? because maybe the problem is with the battery connection
My interior lights won't shut off. And I could smell burning wires.and my windows aren't working now. I burned my finger on my 30 a Dr mod per c/b.any advise please it's raining here and I need to get my window up.
First off; put some plastic over your window. Second; remove the carpet and inspect the wires behind passenger seat. You likely will find many corroded wires due to moisture plus a sharp edge right next to where all the wires run. 100% deserving of a recall on all these cars for electrical issues IMHO and I imagine it didn't happen earlier because people were confused or looking in the wrong areas since this is not a very common problem.
