This winter I have big plans for this quad. It will get tore down and built back completely different and better... MUCH better! #savesportquads #trailriding #400ex
They are good sport quads but im not a Honda fan anymore.. they don't care! They dropped all sport quads basically. I roll w/ Yamaha bro! '21 Raptor 700R-SE & '11 YFZ450X in my garage.
This is the video I was looking for I definitely need the +2 Alba A arms and the +2 Lonestar axle. Everyone reading this comment subscribe to this mans channel and click the like bottom if you enjoy the content! I got to be honest he has helped me tremendously when it comes to questions about the machine and about the Vlog set up! Keep up the good work!!!
My 13 year old just got a 400ex and we put YFZ450 front shocks with reservors, HiPer Tech bead locks, Alba full Nerf bars, Alba front bumper, gripper seat, 2 inch lowering link in rear, GBC tires, HMF competition exhaust, full length skid plate, Renthal bars with AVS levers, steering stabilizer and I'm sure i missed a few things. Tearing the engine down this week to swap camps and replace a leaking gasket. He has been on a 250 for a few years, but wants to race some next year when he turns 14 he can run the 14-17 year old school boy class which allows up to 400cc so we are having to stay with the stock 397CC and likely will stay stock compression for added reliability and heat management.
Just picked up my 2005 400ex! Super happy! I just got finished changing the oil, slapped on a new uni filter, broke down the carburetor to prep for cleaning tomorrow! Also just picked up a new rear sprocket plus a chain. It’s my first quad and just like every machine I own.. I’m gonna treat it like my baby
Its really high geared so when you use it to back up an incline you'll spin out easily if you don't kind of burn the clutch. However its super handy in the woods!
Is there any way i could message you because i just bought a 2004 400ex and need a little help getting some things fixed on her an was wondering if you could be of any help
Better be running full synthetic or @least semi-synthetic 20w50 engine oil unless its winter then go 10w40. Maxima or Bel-Ray are best. Even Honda has a decent oil avail as does Yamalube! Screw Amsoil it's junk.
Ever play with warriors or raptor 350s idk I have a raptor I'm rebuilding now but I'm leaning towards a a 400 my raptor 350 has plus 2 a arms in the front and a oversized extended tusk rear axle and it was a shit ton of fun when I had it going
If you arent racing build a 400. If you want to race go 450. However I havent ever been out run in the woods on my 400 by a 450. BUT 450s have crazy hill climbing power.
If you mainly are on sand I'd go 450 for the extra get around power but if you do slower speed trails that are more technical then get a 400 because it'll run alittle cooler than a 450
My all time favorite fourwheeler is a 1989 Honda trx 250r my second is a 400ex and then 3rd is a toss up between the yfz 450 and honda 450. I'm a honda guy at heart so alittle biased haha
My buddy has a 440 kit in his and the problem with those is you have to find ways to cool those things. They had to put a transmission cooler for the oil and had to add fans and other stuff. Not worth it too me.
Haha! Alittle teaser! They arent all my quads but I plan to do build break downs and special feature videos of all of them one day so subscribe and stay tuned!
To be honest with you I cant remember. The best thing to do is buy an assorted jet kit and play with different arrangements until you find what works best for your setup. You can look on forums for similar setups and what they ran and start there. Then change one jet at a time. I need to open mine up and look again because I have been asked several times.
Brewer Offroad, thanks man. I’m trying to stay budget rn (bought all the AM parts a year ago) and hopelessly tried to avoid the inevitable $50 jet kit by using a torch file set on my stock jets 😂. You can probably guess how that went. Thanks anyway, I’ll probably get a jet kit. Currently it runs like a bat out of hell only when it’s wide open ... and the clutch isn’t slipping. Once the jets and clutch are done though, this wheeler will be ready to take to compound.
Brewer Offroad word, I’ll probably be posting vids when I get the jet kit and clutch. I was too excited about building the quad from scratch initially that I didn’t think to film it. I kind of built it as a sleeper type build since I decided to stop waiting to paint the frame and but the new plastics on it.
Brewer Offroad also, how do the 450r shocks feel? I am contemplating doing some frame mods to put a set of LTR450 shocks on mine, +2 inches of travel and much beefier valving is attractive but I’m not sure how much it would be used since I already slapped on some shtendo a arms.
I don’t know if you remember me, but I finally got a 2001 Honda 400ex and it’s by far my favorite four wheeler. I’ve had 5 utility quads and this is my first sport quad. This thing is insane!
I’m a bit late, I hope you can comment but can you give me a list and pricing range for suspension wise on this bike, J have the exact same one and I’m wanting the suspension to be better
I bought used 2014 450er shocks off of a buddy for $150 but you can find them on Facebook marketplace around the same price. Then send them to rocket Ron to get set up and have top of the line shocks
You might see some improvement in turning radius if you go down to plus 1 on your axle, and btw great videos man, fellow 400ex owner and its nice to have someone to relate too you know, keep up the good work man.
@@BrewerOffroad Gotcha, hey man ive seen it a few times in the comments already but do you plan on doing a video on the 450r shocks? Thatd be something a lot of people are intrested in seeing bc the 400's front shocks are far from the greatest lmak
Yeah I actually meant to do that this past week to post this week but I was recovering from a wreck i had just wanted to relax lol I have a few shop videos and riding videos planned out for the next few weeks!
