I am working on the same bike. 03. But I am lazy and haven't dropped the carb yet. Very lazy of me since its not hard for me to clean them things. I am just trying to keep mine running. It is getting gas but it will die out. I just found that it wasn't getting spark after it warmed up. Fixed the valves and went to the lowest shim to get it in spec. Then I think the stater is bad. So I guess its on the list once it runs. No need to do it all at once since it was a project bike. The previous owner took care of it for a while then seemed to forget about it and run it into the ground. Not that much is wrong with it so I hope I can bring it back too. Mostly the hidden stuff like shims and stator, not changing the oil and the clutch cable housing split open. The drain plug in the carb was over tightened and crushed into the jets on the carb. It needs a little love. I hope to ride it and sell it to someone that can enjoy it for another 21+ years and then sell it for 1 million dollars because of its collector value by then. I have CB360T that was junk when it was made, junk when I got it. But is gold now since its trending.

Sounds neglected for sure. A bunch of things sounds overwhelming but do them one at a time. The starting systems on these bikes were terrible. If you do the carburetor, don’t forget the mid body seals that are almost always overlooked. Good luck with your project.

On the dented exhaust. I would buy a new part. However, if you weld rods to the inverted parts of the dent, then heat the pipe, you may be able to pull the dent out. Once out, finally grind the welded rods off and buff. This technique is widely used when removing dents from fuel tanks. In the case of the fuel tanks. Use brazing rods. Braze the rods to the dent as above, follow procedure.

Yes, just as dent removal on auto body panels. The pipe is titanium and I don’t have a way to weld to it.

Good job brother.im also a big gear head. Love saving old Honda dirt bikes .im going through a 83 XL200R now. Anyway great stuff!! I enjoy it!! Hope all is good .

im going to buy a 2007 crf450. What should i check on the bike before buying it?

Biggest things to check would be the air filter, oil condition/color, chain and sprockets for wear. This will generally tell you how the bike was cared for. Other than that, you never really know.

Everything !!! seems like you are a beginner to dirt bikes even though the 07 is a good bike I highly recommend you buying a new one, because if you buy a used one you would be keeping it in the garage repairing it rather than riding and enjoying the bike. hence you will start hating it.

@@restoroosterohv I agree which is y they do not deserve to buy one. instead they should get their finances in order without looking towards bikes like these. a used one will be more of a headache with so many issues than a brand new one especially for a beginner. and trust me the guy won't enjoy the bike.
