Hello RU-vidrs, My name is Peter. Just a regular guy that loves bikes and learning. I enjoy bringing neglected machines back to life. Come along for the ride, so to speak.

If the bike is in good condition, it is a no brainer but my guess is that bike is probably ragged out. Also, that bike came with a manual decompression system which can be a pain.
If you are changing a dirt bike tire, no. Anything that will be ridden on the street should be balanced for smoothness of the ride, tire wear and safety. Since I don’t do any street bike tires, I don’t have a balancer to demo but they sell them at Harbor Freight as well.
Can somebody please reply if they know if a 2011right side engine case fits a 2010left side engine casing like do they fit can’t find a left casing for the 11 year
Quick question I have an 11 it had a whole in crankcase I bought a new right side but can’t find a left one does a 2012 left engine casing fit or it has to be an 11 year to be exact
Unfortunately I can not speak from experience on this one. However, the crankcase part number (14001-0155) is the same on the 11,13,15 and 16. 12 and 14 are a different part number but it doesn't mean they wont work, I just can't say for sure.
Those crimped connectors work for a few years, but then moisture eventually comes and your connections becomes unreliable. Sometimes they work well, and sometimes they don't. Solder & shrink tubing is one time and done.
holy fucking shit i wish i would have seen this last weekend. Ive wasted 2 hours bleeding my front brake to no avail. bought some little adapters to try reverse bleeding (up through the bleeder valve). if that didnt work i was gonna rebuild my master cylinder! After watching this, 10 minutes my front brake is like new. Thank you!!
While all timing chains essentially do the same thing, timing and alignment marks can differ dramatically, even between the same model. I would strongly suggest a workshop manual. Not sure if you're still following I just got done throwing everything together was looking for a manual so I could figure out what the torque specs were ran into your video and now my issue is that washer you were talking about being concave convex whatever I'm missing it it looks like someone has already had this thing apart and the clutch was slipping on me so I thought the clutch plates were bad I'm wondering if it's that washer and if so I have no clue what that's called to order a new one and they also had the small friction on the inside and not on the outside like what you're showing

Had one from new out of the London boat show year's ago! Loved every minute of it. Used on the see off of the Isle of Wight out of Bembridge harbour. Travelled across the Solent to the main land many times. Hope you have as much fun as I did 🙏 Forget to say 360 spins were my speciality 😊
@restoroosterohv I ended up working at the Isle of Wight Seadoo dealer for 6 years and yes, carburettors were always a bit of a problem, especially as they were used in the sea. Good luck for the future 🙏
Solder and shrink tubing is 100% the correct option always. Preferred method is no crimped or soldered connections. Crimp connections are neither water nor dirt tight. Also over crimping can cause failure. I've seen machine burn down on the trail due to crimped electrical connections.
@@restoroosterohv I have a 2007 and I am just rebuilding it from the ground up. It has been abused for years, the chain is rock hard and I am surprised how strong this engine is given the abuse. I put a new rod(wossner, OEM had the small end galling but big end had no play) all new oem bearings,a 13:1 piston, pro circuit intake cam, procircuit ti-6 exhaust, stainless steel intake and exhaust valves with stiffer springs, boysen bigger waterpump, also planning on a electric KTM radiator fan. My plan is to make it as reliable as it can be and as strong as it can be. Also I m looking at fitting the klx450 wide ratio gearbox in it to make it more trail riding friendly
@bike23august these engines (450) are extremely strong and reliable not to mention very torquey. I had a RMZ450 that I really liked (personal bike). I picked up my 07 KX450F for a good price and did a few odds and ends to flip it. I ended up letting my friend use it when we went out to Florida tracks and trails one day and decided to take it for a spin myself (never rode it). Turns out, I put the RMZ up for sale instead.
Any update on that Chinese cylinder?? Man no one has made an update video on them, few videos of people installing them but no updates or reviews??????
Unfortunately I don’t. I sold the bike. All I can say is that it felt very well made. Can’t speak on the longevity of the Nikasil coating but it was actually impressive that the tolerances were so tight. I would say give it a shot for the price.
Yes, I would by that in a heartbeat. In fact I just bought a 2007 YZ250F in that same state although a lot cleaner. And like you I paid less than $1000 but more than $500. No way would I pay more than a $1000 for any bike in boxes. The problem around north west florida is no one wants to sell project bikes any more. If they cant get at least $1200 to $1500 out of it then they part it out. It's a crying shame, I've seen some really nice 125s that they don't make anymore that could have been easily fixed, being parted for no good reason. Should be a crime to part out any bike worth fixing.
Nice video! I have a yz250f i bought set of titanium valves i am wondering if i can lap them or not, because they have a coating. I am thinking if i am gentle i wont damage the coat. Or is it better to leave it like it is. What do you think?
Thank you for watching and for your feedback. I have a few slide hammers so I’m not sure which one you’re talking about in particular. Most of these can be purchased off of Amazon fairly inexpensively. It just depends on what you’re looking to do with it
HI im about to set fire to my bike. same 250 2011 KXF. Ive rebuilt the whole engine after blowing up. wouldnt start after. checked the stator, which was dead, which makes sense all the chunks of metal flying around in there probably snapped coils. got a new stator and rectifer and still wont start. it feels like the injectors arent firing at all, everythings always dry. Ive removed the fuel injectors, tank and pump and hoses and connected it all together on the bench with a 12v battery and a 9v battery on the injectors and it gets a perfect spray on both. my thinking is, could the faulty stator have fried the CDI
You are saying injectors, like more than one…the 2011 had one injector in the throttle body, the 2012 up had a second injector in the air box. You need to test everything that you can before throwing a computer at it including continuity through the harness. I would verify what bike you have before going any further. Run your VIN here. @@restoroosterohv when i bought it the guy said 2012, its got 2 injectors, i cant remember the reason why i thought it was 2011 i think it may of been the frame number, this projects been going on for about 6 months now! cheers ill look into that, im a electrician but hate doing 12volt its so fiddly
You’re the FN man you save me from a headache I couldn’t understand why it wasn’t taking in fluid after pumping and bleeding 10 times lol, the one pump technique is what does it 👍🏼
Yea this is normal around ct people have stolen parts all over Facebook and Craig and when they are build people want 3k for it put together but run down so 1k is normal
I really like the boat content. I used to have my own Jetski shop back in the 80's. I spent a lot of time repairing and racing them. Another great video!!!
lol “charge for full engine rebuild to teach em a lesson" 😂. What do you use to clean old tanks with slight orange/bad gas residue? You mentioned you would clean it off and had to wonder. Even for old gas cans that may have sat too long. Thanks!
I’ve never had one that bad but draining and flushing with fresh fuel will usually yield good results. If it is too far gone (solid varnish) it would need elbow grease if you can get to it or simply replaced)
@@restoroosterohv thank you sir! I have gotten different opinions on this from random sources, and wanted to see if you had a preferred method. I usually just use gas too. I always think back to a generator I had that I ended up trashing, when I should have just fixed it up. You make repairing anything a rational process and combined with your experience. It’s fun to watch. Thank you!
You probably already know this, but i thought i would tell you in case you didnt. I have watched all of allen millyard videos. He is a master mechanic and fabricator and engineer. He has some info on doing this. I think you would enjoy his videos if you haven't heard of him already. He has some bikes in the barber museum.
Just purchased a yamaha 1200xlt for 900 dollars the guy was running it and oil feed lines came off and destroyed a cylinder I'm in the process of rebuilding it now everyone on line says zip ties break that's not it the oil lines from factory shrink and pop off replace oil lines people !!
