2007 Toyota Tacoma Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement
Sticking Steering Wheel? Seized intermediate power steering shaft replacement.
So, I hop in my truck with the intentions of bringing an engine to a friend for a little help with a bolt broken off deep in the cylinder head. The trip didn't go as planned. The clutch slave cylinder pushed through the clutch fork, leaving me semi-stuck in the middle of road. I also noticed the steering wheel binding pretty hard at 180 turning points. "Clutch cancel" to the rescue! Got it back in the driveway, clutch fork "fixed", engine loaded into the truck, etc. What I didn't get done, was this intermediate shaft.
In this video I'll be using a tool sent by a viewer who had seen my struggle with a favorite rachet that needed a "service kit". Understanding that that these kits are a little hard to come by, he sent me an exact replacement!
Thank you Bill!
I felt this deserved a repair video utilizing this simple but valuable tool. What better time to say thanks, than while using it to replace the intermediate steering shaft in my truck.
Apologies for the laggy rendering in the last quarter of the video. reason yet unknown.

I do most, if not all repairs, with tools that I carry around in my overloaded 1997 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I perform "On-Site" braking and suspension repairs, amongst other diagnostics and services. My tools consist mostly of Craftsman, a few Stanley, Snap-On, Husky, Pittsburgh, and S&K tools. Scan tools include hand held Actrons, DVOMs, and test lights. I also currently use a Zurich ZR Pro, for advanced and bidirectional diagnostics as well as a Snap-On Verus Pro, for more detailed diagnostics. I'm always expanding my collection, based on need and convenience.
