A "No Compression" diagnosis starts the teardown of my 1997 Crown Victoria Interceptor 4.6 2v. In this video I tear down the top, front, and driver's side of the engine. At the time of recording, I still did NOT know the exact cause
I also drop a few hints about an impending "Rabbit Hole" that this project is unfortunately going to lead me down... One thing leads to another, through the whole project. This project originally started when a manifold replacement video went sideways...

I do most, if not all repairs, with tools that I carry around in my overloaded 1997 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I perform "On-Site" braking and suspension repairs, amongst other diagnostics and services. My tools consist mostly of Craftsman, a few Stanley, Snap-On, Husky, Pittsburgh, and S&K tools. Scan tools include hand held Actrons, DVOMs, and test lights. I also currently use a Zurich ZR Pro, for advanced and bidirectional diagnostics as well as a Snap-On Verus Pro, for more detailed diagnostics. I'm always expanding my collection, based on need and convenience.

Charlie! Brokski! Broskovitch, what the HECK are you doing? Do NOT waste money at the machine shop on those trash non-PI heads. Go to any junkyard and grab a pair of PI (Performance Improved) heads & cams (from a 01 and later CV or 99 & later Mustang) and combine that with a PI intake manifold and you have a free ~50 hp upgrade. Again, call the machine shop and tell them to drop those boat anchors in the trash. Your 97 CV will scoot with the PI heads & cams.

Aside from the inside of this engine being way too clean for a 97 with over 160,000 miles, and suspecting it's not original, I have no intentions of changing any part of the drive train. I'm keeping it as close to original as I can. The machinist wasn't going to charge me at all., initially. I asked him to clean and resurface it as a matter of principle. Just a bit over $100 and it look brand new! I'm VERY happy.

This one was a kinda fun one. Not a lot of money, but a lot of much needed maintenance. All new valve seals, One new head gasket, new motor mounts, newish crank damper, new starter, new steering box, new intermediate steering shaft, new power steering hoses, etc

Ford and their better ideas. Is this the same head you did the valve seals on? What did you have done at the machine shop other than cleaning and testing?

yes, this is the same head. Videos are being released out of order (like Star Wars) The machine shop confirmed there were zero issues with the head. I felt bad about the "no charge, come pick it up" so I asked him to clean it up and polish the surface. He did an amazing job! (the engine is completely done, but all the stuff that bolts up to it is going back on at a rate of one part a week....lol)
