Very good video. Yesterday, I told my wife I would "pop" the bulb in before she went to yoga. As we all know, no "popping" on this one. Found the video and confrimed my conclusions that I had to disassemble the front end. Although 45 (yes, count them) bolts, screws, fasteners, retaining clips and connectors seems excessive to change two bulds (yes, I replaced the second buld too), the procedure was straightfroward. It took me 3 hours including talking to three of my neighbors. Thanks
Thanks for posting this video with such good detail. I just purchased my '06 Prius a couple months ago and noticed a bad headlight. I researched online, saw this video, and bought bulbs off eBay which come in tomorrow; I plan to follow your steps and hopefully replace both bulbs for a lot less than I otherwise would have.
Just this this today. Excellent video. I managed to change the passenger side without having to remove the whole bumper but...ended up having ro remove the whole bumper to do the driver's side. Go me! Thanks for the video again.
Excellent video. I tried replacing the headlight by not removing all those parts but the clip that hold the bulb in came off. Now I'm going to do it your way. Thanks for making the video. Guess I will need ramps to do this though.
Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic! I just finished changing my headlight bulbs in my 2008 Prius. Shame on Toyota for doing this for after sale extreme profits. Instead of the $300 a pair price I paid only $95 a pair, and didn't have to pay their ridiculous installation charge. Go ahead and try it. I don't work on cars very often, and still accomplished this.
Changed mine today for the first time (yep, the bulb lasted 10 years). While I did not completely remove the front bumper cover, showing the full teardown was very helpful. Start to finish was just over 30 minutes, and cost me $30 for an OEM D4R bulb.
bryceeaton1. You are to be commended. This is a very instructional video. Screw you Toyota, and your dealer network, trying to charge people $1,000 to do this. What a way to treat customers. Long live RU-vid.
My headlamp connector doesn't look like that. I have a 2007 prius, but the headlamp connects with a three prong plug-in ordeal. I bought some MAXLUX HEADLAMPS but they are circular in the back. Why does my Prius headlamp connectors look different than this Bryce Eaton
