Did this on my 07. Went well, works good. Thanks for the video. Dealership wanted 500 for the job. Did it in around an hour for both headlights for the first time. Saved 460 dollars
Used this video in January 2023. This part at Advanced Auto or Autozone showed to be about $105 per bulb, but I got it from Amazon for $35 for two bulbs, so we'll see how long they last. This video was really easy to follow. It really helped me change my bulbs, so thank you!
This is the second time I used this video, and it’s been great to have available. I started to try to snake my hand for the driver side bulb and said I got to go back and do it the way this video showed me. Thanks for making it!
Thanks for posting this video. I did it last night for both sides on my ‘07 Prius. I wouldn’t have been able to do it if it weren’t for your instructions. The only issue was the front bumper falling off, so whoever is going to try this at home, watch out for that problem and secure the bumper with a support underneath. It took me almost an hour to reinstall the bumper properly 😅
Awesome video, Thanks a lot. A chunky doe was kind enough to remodel my front end and decided that my bumper and left headlight did not fit the aesthetic it was aiming for. Big preesh for the video.
This was a great video, thanks. It was really a pain to get the bulb cover off and a couple of the pins holding the black hood cover broke, but not too bad overall. Way cheaper than the dealer to DIY!
Thanks much. Your video made the job much easier for me. The first time I changed bulbs I was able to do it without removing the bumper. But this time I couldn't budge the dome behind the bulb. It really helped to see how easy it was to remove the bumper to get at the housing. My 07 hadn't had new bulbs since 2014, so six years later in '20 the o-rings were really tight.
Thanks. This is the easiest way I found to replace the inverter coolant pump. While the headlight is out, it's right there with plenty access. Two locking pliers to seal the hoses so you lose very little pink liquid. Essential to purge air after new pump install.
Great video help me a lot. Save me a ton of time. Except for the fact I didn't take into account that I live in upstate New York, part of the rust belt. So I go and I throw my screw gun on those rubbers stoppers screws on that first panel and snap one off and strip the other. So I had to drill the whole crap out and make a makeshift. Thank you! The rubber bumper lol. I hope nobody makes the same mistake I did. Beware! You need to make adjustments after watching a video from people in warm states. Lol. Color me dumb
Thanks for this video! Last time I changed the bulbs I did it the blind way. Working blind is definitely not the way to do it! This didn't take much longer, but was so much more secure. (I discovered this time that neither rear cover had been closed properly.) The only problem is that this leaves the bumper cover hanging by the under-car fasteners. So it's probably a good idea to finish as quickly as you can, or maybe even put something under the bumper to hold it up. Or maybe do one side at a time, even though it's easier to do both together. Great work!
Thank you followed your instructions and it worked perfect, especially that last headlight bolt. Once the housing was loose I was able to replace the headlight without disconnect any wires other than twisting off the headlight connector. Those other connectors can be tricky. But thanks again so much I have replaced the other headlight in the past with a different method but the cover on this was so tight I needed to get the whole assembly out to remove it.
Thank you for this video so helpful once I took to Toyota shop to replace headlight in Sonoma county I walked out paying $400 did it myself this time and was successful thanks to your video
Great pointers. Easier than trying to jam my large hands into the small space while the headlight assembly is still attached to the car. Thanks. Works great on my 2006
Thanks for the video friend, I have fat hands and I was going to try and wing it. But now I know that there are some hoops worth jumping thru. Cheers! 🍻
Thank you so much for your help with replacing the headlights. Very easy to follow and took a fraction of time and better result than if I tried to do myself. God bless you.
I would not have been able to handle this job myself were it not for this video. This will save me at least $250. The third bolt was not in the same place as in the video (it may have changed year-over-year) but I was able to find it. The only thing I wish he had done that he didn't do was show how to disconnect the headlamp wiring. But I'll figure it out.
This is a follow up to my earlier post. When I changed the angle of view, I found the “missing” bolt and took it out. Voila! The assemble came out, as promised. I am waiting for my new parts to arrive. If I have properly diagnosed to problem, I will have repaired it for around 50 bucks. My repair guy, who is honest, gave me an estimate of about $350. I have no argument with what he quoted, but I’d rather pocket the $300 myself. I gotta tell you this - I am 73, and I will NOT claim that this job has been quick and easy. It has not. But, in my younger days it WOULD have been easy. So, if you’re at all handy, keep the high cost low and give this a shot.
Oops! What I meant to say was that I was able to disconnect the wiring. I had already said that I had found the third bolt. I guess I had a bout of OLDTIMERS’ DISEASE'!!!
Great video - very well explained and demonstrated. Would you recommend changing out the headlight housing? Mine are old and milky and I was wondering if just changing the bulb would help or if it is better to just buy a whole new (clear)set of housings. Thanks for the video!
Thanks - doing the invertor pump replacement. The piece of wood under the entire battery front bolt method I also found on youtube, just doesn't seem good to me.
Thanks! This was so helpful! I had taken out the headlight before, but didn’t remember which bolts. I tried to get the headlight cap off without removing the whole thing, but the fins just kept breaking.
This is a HID Prius have two type, regular and HID often if you have a bulbe not working or flickering you have to replace the balace, the black box underneath the head light.
Thanks for this video. It was very helpful. However, I had a couple of hurdles. The bulb in my Prius was different and required a Sylvania 9003 bulb. Unfortunately, I had ordered on-line the bulb that you showed in your video. Foretunately, I was able to get the 9003 bulb at a local parts store. Secondly, I had to struggle with getting the fender loose enough to get at the 3rd bolt that held the light fixture. Did I miss something. Are there some additional bolts under the fender that needed to come off. Overall, your video was great. Thanks again.
2009 Prius headlight bulb keeps blow out I have changed it several times only low beam blow out driver side . Tired of giving hundred of dollars to my mechanic almost every two months Any suggestions where is the problem. BTW he changed connectors as well also the plastic cover
Hey dude, I seen your video about Toyota Prius it might be 2005 or 2008 well I have three lights on my dashboard on my Prius. So can you tell me how to turn them off? 1-(!) 2-ABS 3-VSC & also I would like to install a Sirius Satellite Radio
for myself, this had to do with the wheel hub replacement...there are wheel sensors in those areas that if not working or attached properly, will throw those warning lights...I had a wheel hub replaced 5 years back and suddenly those lights went on...cleaned the wheel sensor connection to no avail...let it go until just last month when i needed yet another wheel hub assembly on the same side...replacement has somehow permanently turned the warning lights off...not saying you need to replace the wheel hub to remove these warning lights, but it could be the wheel sensors that are located in the same general area as the wheel hubs
its too bad that the Prius bumper does not have some color matched knockoff plug to get to that one bolt on each side....I guess a black plug will have to do instead. Mabe some aluminium button.....anyways thanks for the video...it was short and to the point unlike some where the presenter is rambling on and on...
Agreed. All cars today are a nightmare to work on. I remember when you could replace a battery, bulbs, spark plugs, etc in a parking lot in less than 5 min. Now it's an all day process...I dont want to give up my older 03 Buick for this reason. Its the cheapest to maintain because I know how to work on it myself.
Bought a one owner prius like this. I had to replace the headlights, I took the bumper off and found a hidden front end collision :( The hid bulbs look nice at least
No you’re not. I had the same problem. These tiny plastic clips become so brittle with age… I had to wedge them out super carefully, otherwise they would bust out in pieces 😂
