I spent twenty years in the garage and can honestly say I wish I had 10 lads as good as you. Brilliant video step by step process. Well practised and knowledgeable and to do all that on your back fair play to you
Your review means a lot coming from someone who’s been in the trade for that many years ..,, thanks for the support and word of encouragement.., really appreciated ✨🍻🍻🍻
@@WMCS My Cousin is a Mechanic, he's worked at Mercede's, Porsche, VW... all of them, over the years. He says the same as you Kevin, There;s lads who swap parts and the one's who truly know their craft. I do my own work on my car, confidence permitting... using a 3 tonne jack and stands, not easy at all and certainly not the standard or speed you work at. Hat off mate, you're always efficient and dilligent.
Great video no messing about or no annoying music, just showing you exactly what's involved, some strength too, to be able to lift that gearbox & put the bolts in at the same time😳wow best part of the install easy, great job👍👍👌
i get well tired after 2-3 hours of work on cars...clutch take much longer and you still had plenty strength left in you..its not a small job and you managed to film it.well done to you rome salute you..
Without doubt, the best instructional video I have watched on the tube to date 👍 A job I will surely be taking on with my B6 soon as I have a rattling noise in there somewhere after the first start of the day until the clutch is depressed! Thanks so much Brother for the upload. Wishing u and yours many blessings 👍🇮🇪
Ai las-o si tu acum, cel mai bun mecanic din UK! Munceste si el saracul la aia care nu se incumeta sa mearga la un service adevarat. Daca te uiti, cam toate masinile la care lucreaza sunt tigai vechi.
Laborious but amazingly very accurate undertaking which you managed pretty well Kevin. Thanks for recording it on VW Passat B6. I watched your recordings on B7 and other VW models but this is the first one on B6 which is brilliant. Thank you very much working on my car here Kevin, you helped me out tremendously and car drives so smoothly now. I am glad I have hired you. Keep up good work. Many thanks for you labour and help. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👏👏👏👏. Merci.
I've just done my passat today using your video following it and managed to do it I needed help from a friend to line the box back up but apart from that I managed. You make it look another easier than it was . Thank you for making the videos you have saved me a fortune
Have a couple of questions if you don't mind. 1. Will you fit a clutch kit that the customer supplies ? 2. Which in your opinion is better quality, SACHS or LUK, I think the Sachs clutch is slightly more expensive, but I've also been "told" they are better quality ??
Iv'e been in a mechanic since i left school in the late 70's and always had the facility for doing this kind of work on a workshop lift, and in years gone by iv'e done the odd clutch change on someones drive, and once in the pouring down rain, that was unpleasant to say the least i couldn't/wouldn't do it now (I'm in my late fifties), we don't see your face but i suspect your a young man, and that's what it is, its a young mans game, it's damned hard work doing a clutch change on the floor, hat's off to you mate, all the best..
Hey Roy. Always great to hear from a fellow mechanic.,, thanks for taking time for sharing on our forum. I’m young enough. 43yrs. But reckon I can smash this till my early 70’s. 🍻😁 The mask is purely for protection. The consequences of being exposed to oil and clutch dust can be detrimental. So no chances are taken here .,, especially doing it on a daily basis. .., Hope you’re keeping well .,, be sure to subscribe for more videos. 😁✨🍻 Regards Kevin-Albert
Thanks to this video I was able to change flywheel, clutch and pressure plate 😃 fantastic video, even bleeding went well! Lots of respect and thanks from Norway 👍
Det ble uten løftebukk, men med god hjelp av en som sto over motorrommet og hjalp til å løfte den av og på. Den girkassa var tung nok, så det er imponerende å se supermann løfte girkasse som om det var en liten startmotor 😅
Right now, im stuck on the bolts on the flywheel on my passat. Lets see tomorrow....the hard part its to put the gearbox back. I love your move with the leg on the jack while hanging the gearbox.
hello, I wanted to thank you that without you I would not have dared to change my clutch of my volkswagen passat motor bkp year 2006, thank you very much for your videos, it has helped me to change the clutch without problems, thanks
I've got this exact job to do on my 2008 1.9 b6 when the parts arrive, but I've gone for the single mass conversion instead. Thanks for another fantastic video. Just like you I'm doing it on the driveway, so let's hope I find it as relatively straightforward as you make it look.
@@WMCS I did the clutch on my old Mk2 Mondeo diesel on the driveway and also did a complete Subaru EJ22 conversion in a 1972 VW camper. I'm very experienced at rolling around on the drive, swearing and losing tools. Just hate the way this shit always seems to need doing in the middle of winter. Oh well... If only every clutch was as easy as on my old Cavalier.
Rodrigo..🤩✨✨..,, by the time tour son mentioned it I was nearly done. Otherwise I would have filmed it 🍺🍻🍻..,, it was a pleasure .,, and it drove lovely afterwards
Congratulations, mechanic Stig, you do a great job only I saw, maybe Im wrong, you greased a little bit more than normal the primary, everything is amazing and thanks for the video, very motivate, regards by Spain
Hi. This is my first time watching one of your videos. Just an FYI. If you use a motorcycle jack, then you can use that to hold the transmission on and off the car. It will save your back. It will also make it pretty easy to put it back in there without tiring. I had to do the clutch on my mr2 twice and that motorcycle jack holds the transmission just perfect since they have that odd shape.
@ Kevin-Albert Williams This is the best video i have seen in my whole RU-vid life: I love that you do not say anything in the video, but only point because you can get so damn confused if you also have to listen to someone who explains what is being done. I'm going to change the clutch and flywheel on my 2007 Passat 2.0 TDI. And this video has really made it easier for me. Really Good Video ....
I really liked what you did on this passat I think I'm going to start changing the clutch myself after watching this video you posted on RU-vid Thanks for everything
Nice job, never use cleaner on flywheel because u have grease in springs and i'll always replace crank oil seal.Wish u a good luck u have amazing skills.
@@WMCS I use a old cloth lightly soaked in petrol, i don't spray the cliner because it pours inside and dissolve grease in dmf, just wipe lightly and that's it.
Very good Kevin !! Warning gear box man !! Heavy and dangerous manipulation More you have muscle and inteligent . And more ...simplicity !! Good worker !! Salutations of argentina !!!
the kit you took off wasn't a self adjusting clutch the one you fitted was and you supposedly need a special fitting kit to fit it properly you just banged it on no problem lol i could do the job but could never put the box back being a weakling by myself good video nice work
Thanks for the review.,, never had any issue using the £10 clutch alignment tool compared to the £1200 alignment tool .,, one thing I’ll point out tho., always tighten down bolts in increments until fully tight. And the adjuster in the clutch plate are there to pick up any slack as the friction plate wears down rather than a fitting adjustment.
he's good as working alone I did mine on Golf IV, same gearbox, same clutch, I just needed help by a freind to lift the gearbox to put in place , I got scared that I wiggle the gearbox by myself and something happen, we don't know.... you get under the car and you start thinking bad scenario.... otherwise all by myself, and I'm no machanic I am a nurse. I just like to do things myself... so he is very good the guy 5 stars.
Absolute quality job. I like how you take a moment after you fit the flywheel and clutch then run your hand over it like a proud dad! What is it with these 2.0 litre Passats, think you've filmed 3 to date. Just wear and tear. Done any A4 2.0 litre TDIs?
You captured that in words like a picture .., there’s a great sense of satisfaction whenever the clutch is finally bolted on.., I do it all the time even when I’m not filming 😁😂.. All three ones are different engine code variants .,, there’s slight difference in the build
I’ve got a 2007 golf with the same lump and gearbox, it’s got 199k on the clock and the clutch pedal travel is more or less none existent but does have good bite tho
Great vedeo 👏👍👍 we must said the true this guy is a really good mechanic 👌 this guy is a really fucking good 👍 👏 he knows really about this caind of the work cheers from Portugal 🇵🇹

I suppose 4 wheels on dynamos can be compared to a digital watch. On the other hand, let’s take a V12 engine. Now that’s like a well ticked Rolex .,, 😉 thanks for viewing our channel. 🍻
@@WMCS No problem, i enjoy watching the things i'm bad in hahah You don't have to sweat about your job, the end isn't that near as they are prtraying to be , cheers all the way from Croatia ^^
@@WMCS yes I can tell I work outside too rendering obviously my attitude is the same right let's have it... If you don't feel that you shouldn't be doing the job... Really good work mate I've watched 5 hours today and loved it all buzzin off you haha. Keep it up
Hi just a quick one, I'm taking this job on myself, but I've been told I need the self adjusting clutch tool, although in the video, I see you use only the clutch alignment tool, how necessary is the self adjusting tool? The tool is supposed to give the flywheel the correct preload on to the flywheel I've read. Thank you an kind regards
Top man thank you, hopefully mine goes as smooth as this 🤞🤞 one of the easier ones I'm led to believe. Great work buddy, you do a great job of positioning the camera so we can see exactly what's going on. Keep up the great work !
You are an iron man ! How you can do this ? I changed my clutch on fiat grande punto following your videos, but when I tryed to lift the gearbox with my body like you .. I lost !! So after I used a pallet truck an some piece of wood to lift the gearbox and I finisched the work but ... it was a hard job ! Top Kevin, I like very much your videos !
Ivan they are a bit heavy some of the boxes. But for a fiat I’d say it’s not so bad. But glad you managed to use some initiative to get it back on. Well done to you ✨✨✨🍻✨🍻✨
I just go by feel. ., If it’s stretch bolts as soon as it hits hard I get a 90• turn on top. If it’s solid bolts as soon as it hits hard I get a 45• turn on top. Thanks for the support. ✨🍻🍻
Hi Kevin did one of these the other day only took 7 hours 😂 on a dead end narrow lane with a brambles bush to my side as I worked in the rain! 😂 trying to follow your foot steps! Would it ever be possible to come work with you for a week?
Good work and clear space! I might say that VW is a bit boring. Some red rubber grease in the joining cup of the drivestaft to avoid leaking? I still wonder how you manage to change the hydraulic jack position to raise the engine... 600 luk points is about a bag of peanuts or something? 😄 It seems you changed the syringe and the pressurized brake cleaner. Thank you very much for the video!
600 points you get just the bag of nuts without the peanuts .. Yes a new syringe. New pressure bottle new jack yet to be used and some replacement tools .,, I believe in re investing in my work tools and equipment before they fail.. Swapping the jack to the gearbox I can’t show on video due to health and safety. .,, I hold the gearbox with one hand and swap the jack with the other hand ..,,
@@WMCS Man, that is awesome! Thank you very much for the classes on mechanics. I thingk that showing your job makes it more valuable. Specially for those who think these things are easy and take little time. Take care! Are you using a mail for PayPal support?
Great job KAW! how it's done and making the hard way (on a driveway with no lifts or compressor's) look easy, which it msot certainly isn't! Well not to us mere mortal's or the aspiring D.I.Y'er! :)
