Southern Cemetery near Chorlton Manchester. I visited his grave before they put this gravestone up. Nightmare to find, the place is HUGE!! Tony Wilson and Rob Gretton are also there in different areas of the cemetery.
"Legend" and "genius" are two titles bandied around ad nauseum, but Martin Hannett more than deserves both. Flawed, undoubtedly but then who isn't? Like Curtis, Gretton, Wilson, Cassidy, Ryder et al, he is still much-missed by all those whose lives he touched through his work.
I do not understand why it took 17 years for him to have a headstone...Is it not common for a headstone to be put up shortly after someone passes away. Anyways, it is a lovely one and a grave i shall like to visit on my next trip to the UK-right after visiting Ians grave.
