Thanks for the video! I installed without any issues. You do need 2 “different” OEM keys (ie, not a cloned copy.) around $300 for the key and programming at Ford dealer. Mother OBD plug doesn’t fit in my car’s mounting clip, so it just dangles from a zip tie - a small bummer. I had to pay careful attention packing the wiring around the steering column. Some are pretty tight, and you don’t want the adjustment lever pinching them. Go slow, and treat it like a puzzle to find the best placement. If I push the buttons too fast, it won’t start, so wait a quick potato between presses. When you get in, don’t push the brake before putting the key in run. And you need the key in run position to unlock steering wheel and stop the brake pedal from turbo the car off. The harness has wires already for an “add on pack” to install a separate remote or mobile app function, if you decide on that later.
3 years later , I just installed the same kit. Some updates the data link is now plug and play . Works great easy install . Thanks your video made my decision which brand to buy .
Hello…Quick question you said you have to have two keys…so do both keys have to be the keys with the lock and unlock buttons on it or can it be one key with the lock and unlocks buttons and the other key just be a plain factory key without buttons ?
Well Done, I have A 2012 Ford Escape as well. (I'm a little nervous about Splicing) but you made it look pretty easy (I assume you disconnected the battery?) Also What Stereo do you have?
I actually didn't disconnect the battery, probably a good idea to do so though. The quick splices I used are pretty easy to work with and easily reversible too. The stereo is a Kenwood that I purchased back in 2013.

Do I need 2 factory fabs or just 2 factory keys? I have 1 factory fab and 1 factory key and the remote starter came with 2 fabs. I'm installing an Idatastart RF3462AE into 2009 Ford Escape. I can get the lock and unlock to work, but not the remote starter feature. Other videos mention the need of a hood pin and you also talked about a valet switch. In the owners manual I see a valet mode, are those two different? Sorry to unload all these Questions, just trying figure this all out.
Thank for posting this. I followed along and successfully installed this today on my escape. When programing I made a few errors, but I finally got it worked out and programmed! Just out of curosity, why is it that the OBD connector needs to be spliced into? what is the purpose?
Glad it helped Brandon! The reasoning for it being spliced into the CAN-BUS wire on the OBD plugin is so that the module can pick up when the car is bring locked or unlocked so it can start the vehicle. In older vehicles without CAN-BUS you have to splice about 30 wires so the remote start module will work properly.

Ok I have a 06 dodge charger that my wcm module's antenna broke so I got another from a used car and model by can't seem to get it programmed since it's a different vin #... will this type of remote start work to get my car started??
I’m in the same boat and don’t want to spend close to $200 at the dealership to get a second key made. Unfortunately I haven’t found anything that can be programmed with only one key.
I am not currently aware of a kit that can be done with just 1 key, but I would check with your local locksmith. They can usually program a true 2nd key, and it's much less than at a dealership.
I ordered this same kit for my 2010 Escape. I planned to follow your video and install it myself. It seems like a very easy install except for tapping into the 2 CAN wires behind the OBD connector. When I asked MPC if I could use T-taps, they told me to never use taps on CAN wires. Is everything still working correctly with your install? I don't know whether to go ahead and try to install it or send it back and forgot about it.
Hi. I have a question. If anybody could help me out would be great. I have the same module but when i connect the 4 pin data. The 3 lights start flashing without stop. What could it be?
You can push the brake pedal to shut the engine off once it's been remote started. If you've gotten in the car and turned the key to the "on" position, you should be able to turn it the "off" position to shut the engine off.
someone that has money to spend had them installed for 1000 or 1200.. remember its easy to say dont buy a brand new car it will depreciate but its only people that cant afford it that say that kinda stuff.. you only have 1 life enjoy it while you can
tried to purchase a kit for my 2011 escape and they tell me they don't make one for that application or for the 2012 with makes no sense cuz i just watch this
