The ramps threw the oil level off. It must be checked on level surface, not on ramps! 5 qts puts mine right at the full dot. I have 2009 same 2.4 liter engine.

It's hard to see on camera, but the surface wasn't level. When the car was on ramps, it was very close to being level, so it didn't make that much of a difference for me. But overall yes, you are absolutely correct. You want to make sure the car (or any vehicle that's being worked on) is as level as possible.

Good video. Could the low oil on the dipstick have anything to do with the fact the car was still on the ramps?

Good question Cravz69. In most cases, yes it could have an effect. However, the place I changed the oil in the Accord was on an incline and while it was on the ramps, it was pretty level. Maybe not 100% perfect, but very close.

Is it mandatory to tap the filter after install? Lmao. Thanks man. I don’t like guessing and I always watch some sort video before tackling any motor project. Exp the ones that tell you what tools are needed.

Lol no problem man, I don't blame you. It's always better to do some research if you are unfamiliar with a project. And no, it's not necessary. To be honest I'm not even sure why I tapped the filter, but I decided to leave that in there lol. Thanks for watching! 🤟

I don't drive mine up on ramps. I don't warm up the oil unless the temperature outside is chilly like below 60. The oil in the pan has already settled from the last time the hot engine had been shut off, and had drained down for hours or overnight - much longer than 10 minutes after starting the motor and recirculating the old oil right before it supposed to be changed out. I simply use a floor jack to raise the front of the car up so I can place two jack stands to hold it up while I drain out all that old oil already settled in the pan. In cases where it would help, I would have one jack stand a notch higher than the other to orientate the drain plug lower to the rest of the engine. in 40 years I've never had an oil related engine failure.

Very much make sure the gasket is applied to the old filter. Otherwise you get a loud "Pfffff" and a large mess, check even if its always come off, because that one time you don't will result in a driveaway stain. This sucks especially if you just pressure washed the driveway for this year, don't worry however, a running hose, muratic acid, and a scrub brush makes easy worm of the mess. Just be aware it may come too clean if you do a few passes. Mine basically takes the full 5 quart jug as well.

It's the opposite direction a clock turns.

Yea, so I believe a shop worked on this car and stripped the original oil drain bolt. So, it looks like they put a different bolt in there. I would go through your sockets to see which one fits perfectly. I believe 14mm or 15mm is the correct size, but I'm not 100% sure. Please comment which size worked for you so other people know too!

@@TrickShiftGarageI have several Hondas in my family, in which I do the oil changes. Factory drain plug is 17mm, torqued to 30 ft/lbs.

how many quartz in total a honda takes? i own a 2008 accord

It's just below 5 quarts, however I used the whole gallon because it was a little low when I checked the dipstick. Keep in mind that this was for the 2.4L 4 cylinder engine.

Yep! But I would check it after filling with about 4.9 quarts and if you need to add more (like I did) then fill the rest.
