What would they need special rules for? The rulebook already says that the pitchers has to announce what side he is pitching from first, and the pitcher can not switch arms in an atbat. What's so difficult about that lol it explains everything that they were arguing about in the video :O
Yeah 10 years ago when you looked it up there was already a rule. But there wasn't a rule 13 years ago when this happened. The rule was made because of this incident.
@im99mining You are correct when the pitcher may not switch arms in an AB but the umpire must announce in some way that that AB has begun. I.e play ball or pointing at the pitcher.And in this case the batter also never assumed control of either side of the batters box.
I think the hitter overules the pitcher on that one. The pitcher is the dealer with the baseball, he must deal from the mound and rubber, first before the hitter, and choose left or right for each batter. It's still a tough call and very puzzling though, lol.
