2007-2009 Acura MDX has problems with water intrusion into the rear fuse box.
This is how to dry out and repair the fuse box. This saves you hundreds of dollars!!

Thank you for making this video. Water intrusion in these 2nd Gen MDXs seems to be an issue at about 10 years of age. It is often difficult, if not impossible to identify the source. The most common culprit is thought to be a hairline crack in the vertical weld at the end of the roof rain gutter. I removed our whole rack & couldn't positively identify a source. I RTV'd it and especially those posterior vertical welds and the water intrusion stopped. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so rain is definitely a daily problem. Thanks, Mate. Just started issues with symptoms you describe. Before watching this video I looked into the rear panel and pulled some fuses, found moisture. Heard a noise kind of a sizzling, but very faint. Narrowed it down to the 10A rear lights fuse. Pulling the fuse stopped the weird sound immediately and all the issues with alarm going off stopped. Planning to remove the fuse box and clean it, dry it and reinstall, so I'm here for a visual guidance.

Very similar situation to what’s in my video. After cleaning and drying it out it worked great afterwards. Then try to find the leak. There’s an MDX internet forum that covers several common leak areas.

I really liked my 2007 MDX until this issue came up, now am fighting glitches. in the electrical. the main one is that the alarm keeps going off constantly when i hook up negative battery cable. Any way I can disable that? I tried cleaning out the rear fuse box like in video. everything seemed fine . not a lot of moisture but was some.. hardly any corrosion, anyway.. I would have sworn Acura's were the best... until now.. been waiting for the appointment at Acura dealership now for 5 days!

For the alarm I would try to connect the battery and then unlock the driver door with the key. Your alarm might be armed and it’s panicking when the battery reconnects.

I need help! I can't get the top right white cupler detached! I lost my turning signal, wipers, TPMS warning, alarm going off randomly (constantly)... lots of snow hear melting and a constant mist all day. Heard sizzling.

Disregard... I got it out and the box is indoors. I washed my car at coin car wash today and the fuse box was quite soaked after. Still locating the leak, the sunroof hose looks ok... going to do some testa and more research. In the meantime I want to clean up the fuse box, is there a way we can chat 1 on 1? I definitely see corrosion (the fuzzy white and blue 'growth') on the 2 turqouise relays (B,C), the harness underneath the relays (c) as well as the bottom left white harness (b). I'm pretty amature with this stuff but I'm a quick learner! Also DIY is easier on the ol' wallet. :) Thanks for your video btw!!! I couldn't do it without you! @@JoesCarSmartsNY

@@niclyntan1579 if you research the internet you will find that there’s discussions about poor roof welds / joints that can leak into this fusebox. I think there’s also discussion about roof rack mount points leaking.
