Hi everybody, and welcome to my "stevenofpa" RU-vid Channel!
This video shows you what it's like to learn about the ignition coil wiring harness, and the ground connector ring terminal, and how a little bit of corrosion can cause a poor ground connection that prevents the engine from starting and running properly. You can see the engine wiring harness in this vehicle, and the individual wires, and the copper ring terminal, aluminum valve cover, coil, connector, volt meter, dvom, test, diagnose, inspect, clean, repair, fix, how to fix a poor ground connection, engine won't run, crank no start, cranks but does not start, engine code p0300 p300 p303, p0303, misfire, runs poorly, can't start, won't start, stall, smells like gas, OTHER KEYWORDS, chafte, chafe, short to power, short to ground, short, bad connection, wire damage, loose, corrode, corroded, corrosion, clean, dull, dingy, fuse, relay, fuel injector, spark plug, cop, coil on plug, primary, secondary, fuel system, starter, generator, alternator, battery, panel, fuse box, continuity, ohms, power, ground, plus, minus, red, black, wire harness, connector, test,
It's nice to know how to fix things so you can do it yourself, test, repair, shop, mechanic, technician, tech school, teacher, instructor, lesson, how to, fix, garage
This car is similar to other GM and Chevrolet vehicles and even Hondas like accuras like civic, accord, cr-v pilot, fit and more

Dont forget to check your main ground to block guys. There is a wire goes from the transmission front under the coolant hose to u der your drivers side headlight that brinfs most of the ground to your block since the battery is in the back

My #1 cylinder isn't firing, checking wiring and because of this video I was able to determine that I wasn't getting ground to the coil. Checked this ground and yup 1 wire was broken

Incomplete. When doing these types of how-to videos, you should implement the fix and demonstrate that it works or you're just wasting your viewers' time.

My humble opinion, the eyelet on that ground wire looks loose. Would definitely like to hear what the end result was!!!

We're you able to fix the ground issue? What was the culprit? Today I left work @ 6am in my 2007 Pontiac G5 (2.2) & made my way arround a loop up across I-470 interchange, across the Ohio River & took the 1st exit however, as I started up the car, I let it warm up a few min, ( not paying any attention) but, it got up to 124° so, I pulled out of work & got a few blocks when I noticed the power steering being labored then as I took the on ramp onto the interstate, the dash lights & radio turned off & the transmission was stuck in a lower gear but, I kept going as far as it would take me! It made it across the river, circled arround the interchange & it died so, I coasted as far as it would let me. Battery tested at 10.44 volts. Had a friend pick me up & ride me to parts store, I Removed both the battery & alternator & had the battery charged & both tested & Both passed yet, omw home, the battery light CAME ON but then, WENT BACK OFF AFTER A FEW MINUTES.. When I reinstalled the alternator & lastly, the battery, I cleaned all connections with a wire wheel & drill then, used a terminal cleaner on the battery post & terminals & sprayed the connections on the alternator & the clip with 2 wires, & whire wheeled the power connection from the alternator, sprayed it with electronics cleaner. So, I cleaned everything proper yet, when I got home, the battery was reading 12.89V with the car running when I think it should be closer to 14v with it running!!!! Can you test yours both off & running & tell me what your voltage is please? I AM WONDERING what the 2 wired are that are in the plastic clip/ harness that plugs into the alternator & what readings I should get from those 2 wires? I WANT TO TEST THOSE WIRES & MAKE SURR THERE IS NO FAULT WITH THEM BECAUSE, THEY ARE TINY & EASILY DAMAGED!!!

WTF did that fix the issue or not lol????

Went thru same issue. Bad ecm. Ignition coil drivers are on the ecm side of the circuit (the primary side). Ground > battery > primary winding of ignition coil (signal is sent then to the ecm) > ecm. Once the signal is received, that circuit is broken off into the 2nd or secondary side of the circuit, which is as follows: ecm telling the secondary ignition coil winding what to do based off the info it receives from the primary winding on the same coil. If there is an open in the circuit (which there was, in my case), the ecm needs to be replaced. I would however still clean that ground or replace the ring terminal altogether. So far I haven't had any issues after installing and programming the new ecm.

Must not have fixed the problem. I hate when the poster never gives a followup. All the "advice" in the world won't help if we don't know whether the "fix" was effective or not.
