Man, my hose sheared off just like this when I was trying to replace that back coil. Gonna give this a go in the morning, but it looks like you just saved me a couple hundred bucks. Thanks!
@@tosterland65 Well you figure, between the cold 🥶 ❄️ weather and Hot 🔥🥵 🌡️ summers ⛱️🌞, & the coolant heating up & cooling down, all the expansion and contraction, does a number on the integrity of the rubber, and they become brittle and when something bumps or pushes 🫸🏼 on them they just break/burst
This was a good start for research. The prices have increased since this video but as of October 2022 you can get a similar hose Dayco 87793 with the quick connect pre-installed for around $30. It will say it is not an exact fit but it worked perfectly for my 2004 XLT 4.6l.
Very helpful in getting the correct parts and everyone thanks! I was able to cut the old connector off right at the end and slide the new one in with new clamps so I didn’t have to get a new hose. Very helpful video thanks
That's the exact video I needed, perfect getting your info out, and for that I subscribe. Appreciate it man. This is how we learn things we haven't done so we don't drop it off and pay$$$, we get knowledge we can share and help 🤘
@@DrewsBackYardMechanics thank you. Plus no one had the hose. Nor could they tell me when they could get it. I’ve been down two days Napa opens Monday and it’ll be fixed
Thanks for the vid. My OEM hose KH450 was only $40 from amazon. Its on the way. Zerex G05 is the same thing as Motorcraft Gold, because Zerex makes it for them. Buy the concentrated gallon and 1 gal of distilled water and mix for 2 gallons, much cheaper than buying the 50/50 premix.
@@DrewsBackYardMechanics Got an update on this. Just installed this weekend and removal tool was a joke and did not work. My hose snapped too, first pull. The oem connector has its own release. The white pieces of the clip that stick out of the tip, just squeeze together and the black plastic sleeve pulls right off. Then remove the white clip. Much easier than wasting an hour with the removal tool.
@@adamcampbell3749 Yeah I don't what is different from my truck to yours, but Amazon says it doesn't fit my truck 🤔Motorcraft KH450 Heater Hose - amzn.to/3yiVTsX , I don't know, but here is the link to the Antifreeze if anyone needs it - Zerex G05 Phosphate Free Concentrate Antifreeze/Coolant 1 GA - amzn.to/3zRPnKh
Hi, good video and I'm replacing my hose, too. A question: the Napa hose 9820 is a 3/4 id hose, right? But, you have a connector that's for a 5/8 in hose. If the quick disconnect is a 5/8in connector and the protruding pipe is 5/8, shouldn't the hose be 5/8in too? Thanks
Does the white clip need to go on the nipple on the firewall first then slide the black piece attached to the hose. Or keep the white clip in the assembly
What’s the metal thing that you put the hose on I have the same truck and experience problems with it spraying out of the metal piece that you put the hose on to
Coolant bypass pipe or coolant crossover mine was leaking as well and it was an expensive piece to change so I used the stick epoxy like liquid metal or whatever they call it and was able to wrap it around the pipe and let it harden and it stopped my leak been on there for several months

Hi, I’m confused, the green disconnect why didn’t you put on? If heard correctly, you would put the green disconnect on the truck then attach the hose. But I didn’t see you do that, you put the hose directly in.
@@DrewsBackYardMechanics Thankyou! I was having trouble because I got the wrong part at autozone, I have a Lincoln mark lt and the hose entrance was to big, that’s why I kept thinking that the disconnect had to be attached. I got the right part and now it’s all fixed! Thanks again!
Since it broke while I was working under the hood, and I quickly went & shut it off it didn't, but I would image if I was driving & it broke & I just kept driving it, it probably would have
@@DrewsBackYardMechanics thanks for the reply. My truck broke while driving and I still drove it for about 30 min and it didn't heat up.the gauge didn't even move.Which I thought was weird.
@@LosAngeles24st Well it would all depend on the temperature, and if you kept moving, and if you went up inclines, if it wasn't hot out, and you didn't do alot of stop and go or sitting idling, and you didn't have to go up any hills, it makes sense your truck could have still ran cool
Oh idk if it's a valve or not but I feel like it is. Like what else could it be?? It was preinstalled inside the house when I bought it. I been thinking about cutting it out.
@@ortizromester There might be one in your's, like a check valve or something, but I am just saying mine didn't have one, probably would be okay to cut it out
@@ortizromester my hose has a 90° bend in it, as you can see in the video, but there is nothing inside of it, and my heat works really good, used it yesterday and today
Well you're more than welcome to make a faster paced video 📷 we do live in a world where RU-vid shorts is the new normal, & everyone wants everything in a min or less, and that's really why the speed setting is there, if I'm talking too slow it's probably cause I'm tired and it's late and I really don't want to be doing that repair or making a video but I was trying to help people out.
