An alternative solution: The driver’s door lock on my 2008 Infiniti G35x jammed. It seemed that the mechanism that locks the door by isolating the main pull cables had seized. I removed the inside weatherstrip as described in the video, but no amount of prodding of the mechanism would release the lock. I tried to force the door with two 300 lbs air wedges, also to no avail. I could see the top of the plastic body of the lock actuator through the gap left by removing the weatherstrip. I rested a short pry bar on top of actuator. After a few blows with a hammer on the other end of the pry bar, the actuator disintegrated and released the lock. There was no damage to anything except the actuator, which I needed to replace anyway. I had fiddled around for a week trying to find ways to release the lock without destroying the internal door trim. I hope my experience might help other G35 owners with a jammed door.
Had the displeasure to have this problem come up on my college kids car. Got to fix it today. I spent a hour trying to find the right thing/tab to push/pull to get the door open. Never could. After thinking through the issue and looking at the new latch part I had an idea. It worked and may well be a much easier solution than the above. After you remove the inside 10mm bolts and pop open the top part of the door panel and remove the weatherstrip, you will have access to the latch and lock cables. Unhook the lock cable and use pliers to pull hard on the cable. This will unlock the door and allow you to open it,sonce apparently the root of the issue is something with this cable. When you pull on it with pliers, you pull it much further and harder the the lock mechanism does. Best of luck!
LMAO... I couldn't find what he pushed either... I did this same thing. I just pulled as hard as I could and I heard the pop... It made perfect sense at the time. I honestly think my 2012 doesn't have the thing he was talking about. I pushed just about everything. Just pull the cable.
2008 infiniti g35 can't open left side front door from outside use key and unlock but hold key until windows are down to stick hand inside the car to open the door thanks for the video
In the winter it happens to me too I have a g35xs but when it’s cold the door cable gets frozen in the driver side door so you don’t need to replace the actuator you just need the car to warm up so I blast the heat for 15-20 mins and the cable in the door should melt and the door will open
@@Daniel19alonso fr bro, just finished up with the door put the new actuator in. U saved me hundreds of dollars i almost gave up tryna open this shit i thought there was no way until i found your video. Thanks again man
yes likely the ball at the end of the cable is no longer seated and came out. Door will not open from outside , Zero resistance when you pull the door handle. However it will open from the inside no problem.
Oddly enough on my car it was on the outside of the window. A vertical bar straight down from the thumb button on the outside door handle. I had to pull it up. 2008 g35x sedan.
@@mostlymotorizedsame issue here! Same car 2008 g35x, it's not like the video, How the heck did you reach that thing to flip it open, since it's on the outside of the window it's crazy thin and since it's against glass it's scary to work with. We can't figure out how to get to it any advice please! Best guess we got so far is getting one of those really thin flat car unlocking tools that look like a long ruler but I don't see how we would be able to twist it to get that bar to flip open. Guessing you got something in there somehow and pulled diagnally up and to the right?
@@Ceeski-bb6wy why did my door all of ah sudden unlock from da inside now lol but it’s still not opening from outside im not even gonna sweat it tho guess it really was just da cold weather
I just would like to know if somebody can come and do it for me and I'll pay them if that's possible I live in Buffalo I'm not a mechanic it's my wife's car and she have to climb in from the back to get to the driver side cuz her door won't open from the inside or out
2008 G35X sedan. There was a rod going down vertically with a yellow clip on the end. Had to pull it up. Its on the outside of the window straight down from the rubber thumb button on the outside door handle.
