I’ve been a mechanic for 40yrs and I truly admire your working in all weathers , been there myself and still servicing .Kevin you have a special gift good luck in the future. Billy
Do this kind of work only when I have to, brutally hard work, knees, back, arms, hands... good going Kevin! Stay strong, very few of you guys left in the world. -U.S.A.
Matthieu
The Civic was a bit of a marathon, I'm 74 and did this sort of thing in the70's and 80's and have the bad back to prove it. Take care mate it will catch up with you.
Tom it’s great to hear from a fellow mechanic. We as a generation are no match for the boys working in coal mines and the trenches of both world wars. We have got it good. Everyone is quick to be Wooly wrapped.
Just did this on a 2006 CRV CDTI, thank goodness Honda wasnt stupid enough to put top starter bolt through gearbox, otherwise it would have been radiator off job. You're a legend Kev, keep up the good work!
I served in the Army doing this in the field for 17 years as a REME Vehicle Mechanic on everything from Land Rovers all the way up to biggest Trucks, Tanks, Armour, Generators and Plant. Bench pressing those Gearboxes into place takes strength, I’m by no means the smallest of lads, strength and size always being the key and I’ve done a few jobs like this in my time. Total respect to Kevin his work ethic and quality of job is to be admired. Keep it up mate
Bonjour Williams, je suis français et j'adore votre vidéo, on vois que vous êtes un grand professionnel! Dommage qu'il n'existe pas de gens comme vous en France
Superb how to video, none of this just undo this and remove that stuff, this guy shows you everything and it's very useful, made doing my clutch so much easier. Thank you very much Kev, much appreciated.
I’m not a mechanic but having done clutches in this way in my own warm garage and even then it’s not much fun. Hats off to people who would do this in the cold, outside then also have to travel to do it. That’s graft
That’s correct. This is what I mean comparing working on European cars ie VAG’s over Far East cars. Too many little brackets and over engineered unnecessary clips and retainers
@@WMCS The last VAG I worked on was ridiculously over-complicated. To get the filter for cabin air out of most Far East cars you push in the sides of the glove box, pull out the box, unclip a cover, and pull out the filter. For VW New Beetle, I had to push out parts of the dashboard under the windshield, to get access to about 18 threaded fasters, then remove the bracket for the filter from its place under the dash, then remove the filter from the bracket. Some of the threaded fasteners were very close to the windshield. Whatever kind of head they had, maybe it was a Torx, there was little room to access it and turn it. Presence of windshield directly above the fastener heads reduced turning radius of the wrench handle. I wouldn't be surprised if the VW service literature suggested removing the windshield in order to access the cabin filter. If that wasn't bad enough, the air duct under the filter was lined - on the _inside_ - with urethane foam. Why anyone would design an air duct to have insulation on the inside surface where the hot or cold air contacts it, is beyond my understanding. And on an 18-year old car - it had become friable. As soon as I turned on the fan after replacing the old, blocked air filter with a good filter - the fan start blowing little pieces of urethane foam into the cabin.
I am also a Mechanic from Ireland, 25 years experience, keep up the great work, love all the vids,I use Milwaukee tools too and the battery just falls apart after a few months,I noticed you have tape on yours 😊, 🤛👍🍺
Paul what a nightmare with the tiny battery screws. I had to super glue it. Then super glue a rubber band around it then duct tape. Those little iPhone screws just don’t cut it does it. Thanks for the thumbs up 🍻🍻🍻
Hello, I am from Germany. Find your videos great and educational. Whenever I have to do a clutch, I always watch your videos. Please go ahead. Thank you!
@@WMCS I struggled like hell getting the gearbox back on and had to call a friend for back up. Once he was able to see the angle was very slightly off, it slipped on easy. Like I said, never again though. Not enough room for my liking.
G'day mate and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺, I think your a marvel how you put new clutches in and in the open and in all sorts of weather and on your back. What you do is great I've watched you do a few so I have decided to subscribe thanks for filming it and I look to the next instalment, kind regards John
thank you for your videos. I succeeded in changing the clutch of my civic thanks to you. first time. The gearbox is really heavy, you suffered too. Thank you.
Next time I’m down the local garage and they are giving me a hundred reasons they can’t do something and how difficult everything is, I’ll point them to this guy. Absolute respect. Get’s on, does the job, no excuses.
That is true. Everytime I need to get done some bigger job, first they say “well on these that is little bit complicated”. Though that is only talk to justify price 😅
Another brilliant video u must have the will power of a lion. U are too good I can't believe u are not on tv u will make ed china look like an apprentice.

This channel popped up on my recommended videos a few days ago and can't stop watching for some reason! Some graft. One thing I've noticed a lot in your videos is the state of discs on some of the cars your working on. You should offer a disc and pad change service as well given the fact your in about them any way. But then where does it stop, it'll be drive shafts, CV joints, the lot.
Reminds me of when i removed the gearbox from my jdm integra type r and fitted an exedy clutch kit ,built up and my g box was still wining ,i thought it was the release bearing,it wasn't lol it was the output shaft in the transmission ,gearbox removed on drive again 2 months later as it got so loud lol! 🤣 took 3 of us to roll it out on a jack and 3 of ys one to position the jack whilst 2 of us lifted and fitted the box back on. Noce job on an integra dc2 but damne! The box was huge! L.s.d ! Was also on our backs but i did most of the strip down and rebulid, twice! Ha!
Total admiration for this man and work he does.. But, 36:50 is just putting toxins into environment for no reason... I did a clutch in a jeep on the ground in snow when I was 26.... I give this man the Lifetime Achievement award for what he does as its Skilled, Hard, and requires a certain man to do!
Hi a great one again keep it and I will keep you in mind for when my car needs one 😉 and how much would it be for a madza mx5 2016 when I need it keep up the good work Nigel
