2008 Iron Bowl, Auburn at #1 Alabama (Highlights) 

I guess this is just my pessimism, but this game (and all Iron Bowl wins) has lost a lot of its luster for me. When it first took place, I thought Bama had turned the corner against Auburn and was ready to pull off its own Iron Bowl streak for the first time since Bryant died. But it just hasn't happened; we haven't reclaimed full control. We blow out sorry Auburn teams and we always lose in shocking ways to their good teams. That's not satisfying to me. We need to dominate them like we've dominated Tennessee and LSU. If you look at my comments on the 1994 Iron Bowl video, you'll see what I'm talking about.

For sure. Auburn was the king of the West for the most part during this time. We all knew that they were hurtle we'd have to jump over to fully return to glory. We didn't just jump them, we kicked them out of the way. It may not go down in the all time history books, but it's one of the most icon Iron Bowls from our side of the rivalry.

LSU was king of the West at this time. Auburn had only won the division twice in the 10 years before this game. Arkansas won the West as often as Auburn did in that time. Meanwhile, LSU won the division four times and the national title twice.

@@rypo59dang. Bama had technically won the West twice in the 10 years leading up to this game. ‘99 and a year where we couldn’t play in the SECCG. LSU def ruled the 2000-2007 era of the West.

Last time auburn won a national championship Jimmy Dean and J.D. Salinger were still alive. I think yall somehow killed off the breakfast sandwich man and The Catcher in the Rye author…. No shame.. oh, and Gary Coleman/the slutty Golden Girl, Blanche…. no shame! lol

PNAS99 I think he was a decent OC, but he could've done a lot better. Statistically, he was worse than Kiffin, Nussmeier, and Daboll. But to be fair, teams run far more plays now than they did when McElwain coached. The game has changed a lot in the past 10 years with the Spread really taking over everything, so I'm not sure if he'd use the same offense he used at Bama.

LSU has won 6 straight against Bama before this particular season… lol. LSU is our 3rd biggest rival so it didn’t mean as much. It meant something tho. LSU fans were always classless, even in victory. They gave out JPW’s phone # the week of the game. JPW gave ‘em the “call me” sign after our first TD. I believe he did it again when we won in OT as well. Julio Jones carried like 7 LSU defenders on his back that game as well. He was only a freshmen. lol

Before Saban, Bama was awful for only 6 years in the 2000’s. We won 10 games in ‘05….10 in ‘02 (Shula even beat Saban while at Bama) Bama won the SECCG in ‘99 as well as the West in ‘02 but had to forfeit going to the SECCG. You haven’t a clue about college football history. You just spout random crap out that you saw from YT videos. If Alabama was so bad before Saban would Bama lead the Bama/LsU rivalry 61-32-5? Would Bama have a 29 game LEAD over LSU? Another history lesson, actually LSU was awful before Saban yet he left so much talent that even an idiot like Les Miles could win a NC with it. Bama still has more 5 stars than any program in the country and On3 ranked DeBoer as the #3 overall coach in the country. (247 ranked him #5) Bama is gonna be just fine…. I mean everything that you told me would happen… didn’t. Everything I told your would happen..(Bama would beat Tenn/LSU) DID HAPPEN. I’ve been watching a lot longer than you and know a ell of a lot more than you when it comes to this sport….
