I bought a 2009 Vulcan Lt I believe it was the last year they were made. I’m 5’ 8 and my tip toes just touched the ground. Immediately you could tell that if you’re balance got off your groin would pay for it. Very fun and strong running bike, I’ve had a lot of motorcycles but this one was the mountain. I climbed it and I got something more manageable for a old man. Love your videos keep it up man.and remember it’s not what you are riding it’s where you haven’t been.

@MRGRIMMREAPER1 I got Vance hance long shots on my 1500 fi and it's louder than any harley in the area. I've been next to thousands of them. No clue why that engine can make so much noise with just 65 hp. As for sound I love it. But some of those bikes are very deep and it sounds better. But I rather be louder.

I have the 07 2000 LTD Classic. It is a HUGE machine. It actually does smoke virtually all Hardleys. Even with $4500 worth of Screaming Eagle mods, I easily walk away from 99% of the Hardleys on the road. Mine tends to shift a bit harder than this one. Yes the bike is nimble for it's massive size, but the low slung floorboards and exhaust tend to drag at any real speed in turns. I am 6'4" and weigh 225#. My wife is 6' and about 185. Doubled up on this bike is like it's empty. NEVER a lack of pure, raw torque. Just twist a little more throttle and this beast roars to life. NOTE: I did 5500 solo miles last summer.Spokane, WA to Phoenix, AZ by way of Red Lodge, MT and Vegas. The Mustang seat feels great when you sit on it for about 7 1/2 minutes. After that, this is a pure torture machine. (tongue in cheek) In all seriousness, the bike is not comfortable on longer tours. My Super Tenere is WAY more comfortable to ride long haul. Highway pegs help quite a bit. All in all, I am proud to roll up on this monster of a machine. BTW, I believe this machine was/is the largest V-twin ever fitted to a production cycle. Same with the rear tire and it's dry weight. (closer to 996 without fuel.)
@joedoole3527
@joedoole3527 7 лет назад
Those Vulcans are beasts of cruisers! 125 CI/2053cc of 52* Vtwin monster. 103mm Bore forged Pistons, huge for a Vtwin. Also unique in the sense that only the top end is liquid cooled and the bottom half of the cylinders are air cooled. There was a 2006 in the shop when I was getting my Shadow on the dyno and the Vulcan made like 110 HP and 130 TQ at the wheel with just pipes and ecu tuning. It is a heavy bike, but still the 850lbs or so isn't a lot for that kind of power and it still gets up and goes. The thing will outrun Harley's Vrod or the cult classic Flat 6 cyl Honda cruisers with ease and a good rider on a well tuned Vulcan 2k can give most 600cc Sport bikes a half decent run in the acceleration department.
@boreed5734
@boreed5734 4 года назад
Not really, this Kawasaki 2000 will not beat a V-rod or Valkyrie with ease unless someone's grandmother is driving them.

I've had my 2008 Vulcan 2000 Classic LT (just like the one in this video...even same colour scheme) for about a year now. Traded my Vulcan 900 LT for it. With that 2053cc / 125ci engine, putting out about 103hp (I have stock tuner, pipes, etc.), and 141fp of torque...I eat nearly every Hardley on the road for breakfast. :) And it is carrying my 6'2" 350# fat arse on it. Sadly, they stopped making it in 2012. Because of not enough sales. Why? Too big, too fast, too much torque. :)
@68bigsac
@68bigsac 6 лет назад
My stock 07 2000 dyno'd out at 154 HP. Your machine may really have a bit more than you're guessing. The only mod I have is a slightly bigger final drive pulley for lower HWY RPM's. A great addition I might say. Safe riding friend.

Can’t believe the size of motorbike engines. After seeing the endless straight roads over there. It certainly explains the different motorsports of our continents. If I lived out there I would be looking into land to build twisty roads. Or preferably running parallel to the straight ones.

kenneth vick dude I hope you got that 900. I love mine and so do a few of my buddies. Before we lost one there were 4 of us on 9s. For exhaust I would suggest a 2 into 1 set-up. A Cobra 2000 tuner(easier than my buddies V&H) and Cobra also makes a Cold Air intake. I built my own intake and wish I had known how good the 2-1 sounds and makes better power before I got my pipes. One more thing, the 9s like to Rev. More than any other V-twin, short of a Duck, I have ever been around.

The displacement, is in competition with Harley Davidson. Not only does Yamaha's bike beat any Harley, in the comfort department, it would also run circles around any Harley, at a quarter the cost. Your stupidity does not validate your opinion.

Its a heavy bike but so is my C109. I like the sound of this one more. If I bought one I'd definitely Darkside it.

Love this bike. Been thinking about one of these or the VTX1800. How would you compare the two?
@68bigsac
@68bigsac 6 лет назад
The VTX will be a smoother machine to ride. The Vulcan will beat it out speed wise, but the Honda is much more comfy. The Vulcan comes from the factory fully dressed out. Thats a lot of nuts and bolts. They need to be checked/tightened often. Either of these great metric cruisers would be a great machine to tour on.

The Vulcan is way more comfy than the VTX and the Vulcan gets way better gas mileage.

Power wise the vn2000 inches past the vtx1800 but the 1800 is a hair more comfortable. Both of them are comfy monsters though

I have an 07. The 2000 is corked a little from the factory. Pipes should be the first performance mod. (you'll need to have the fuel inj/fuel mapping adjusted with a new pipe) An intake charger should be next. If you re-jet the fuel inj., hang on tight. The bike will see a significant increase in power. Just remember, it won't stop any faster than it does now, despite it's awesome brakes. God bless and safe riding.

Popping on decel is caused by it running lean, just need a little more fuel on Decel to eliminate that. What fuel tuner are you using now?
@ashten92

none,I do have the air injection blocked off which helped,I'm going to get the cobra fuel controler.

Now this bike I like. Just listen to that sound. I'll bet it vibrates a bit as well. Too bad about the fuel injection, I like carbureted bikes. What I don't understand is how you can like this bike and also like the new Valkyrie. They are total opposites. I would love to have this in my garage. Been thinking about getting an older pre fuel injection Harley.

Why don't you like FI bikes if you don't mind me asking? They are easier to warm up, easier to tune, make more power more efficiently and require less maintenance. Just curious why you prefer carbs over FI because I recently added a carb bike to my collection and tuning it is vastly harder than my injected stuff. My GSXR 750 for instance, when I want to tune timing or air/fuel etc I simply hook up my laptop and go to town. Also, when I want to ride I simply fire it up, let it idle for a minute or two then pull off. With my VT750C, I had to pull the carb and change jets every time I changed something-taking a solid hour or two each time. New pipes, need to rejet. New airbox, need to rejet, take the bike up to the mountains where altitude is way higher than the 200ft in used to, need to rejet. It's just a hassle I don't miss. Not to mention when I ride the VT I have to start it, choke it, let it warm up atleast 5 minutes then take off choke and ride. I also have to remember to turn the gas valve off and on. Fuel injection is just much more desirable for me personally.

Everybody thinks that EFI bikes run better and are more reliable> I have owned a couple of them, and found out that exactly the opposite is true. I have a 2013 Royal Enfield Bullet that came with Kehin EFI. It ran way too lean. The only way to reprogram it was to buy a $500 Power Commander, instead of a couple of $5 jets. About 2 1/2 years after I bout it new, ethanol gas destroyed the $500 fuel pump. For less than that, I was able to get a carb conversion kit from a place in the UK. It used an Amal MK1 Concentric, supposedly one of the worst carbs ever made. It is not a CV carb. Not only does the bike run a lot better, but I also put an aftermarket pipe on it, and went up one jet size. The plug shows the jetting to be right on. I have had no problems with it and don't expect to. If something does go wrong, it is so simple I could fix it blindfolded. Also, a carb will work even if there is a problem with it. It will likely get you home where you can fix it. Carbs can also be fixed by the side of the road. When EFI goes out, it's dead and isn't going anywhere. It is difficult to troubleshoot, and the parts are crazy expensive. I also had a Yamaha Zuma 125 scooter with EFI. It spent most of it's first year in the shop, even the dealer couldn't figure out how to fix it. When I finally got it back, the warranty was almost over. I sold it quick, while it was running. I want a bike that I can work on. A completely mechanical bike. I don't like electronic ignition, but it does not seem to be failure prone like EFI. I have a couple of bikes and a car with points and condenser ignition, and they never cause me any problems. A set of points is a lot cheaper than a $200-$300 control module. Way back about 25 years ago, I had a 1966 Triumph Bonneville. I actually had very few problems with it, mostly broken cables. The ends would break off. I always carried extra cables. But people talk about Lucas electrics and Amal carburetors like the devil himself designed them. I found them mostly trouble free, and cheap and easy to fix if something did go wrong. I ride motorcycles as a way to get away from the technology we have to live with all the time. I like my motorcycles to be crude and primitive. I want them to have a very visceral fell in a world where everything seems to be smooth and quiet. I plan to buy a used Harley in the near future, one with a carburetor. I want something that vibrates and makes noise, like an internal combustion engine should. Modern vehicles have been refined to the point where they might as well be electric. The reason I am a car and motorcycle enthusiast is 99% because of the internal combustion engine. A simple purely mechanical one that sounds and feels like an engine should.

Honestly man your just not well versed in EFI tuning. There is absolutely nothing on any of my bikes that I can't fix for just as cheap as a carb bike. Electronic devices don't just "break". You may burn out a resistor or capacitor, but then the solder gun comes out with a part that costs a few pennies and the unit can be fixed. I've personally had no issues with any of my injected bikes. I love the fact that I don't have to take anything apart to change the tune. My bikes are anything but quiet and smooth, maybe stock bikes are like that but that has nothing to do with carb vs EFI that's just how new products are made because we have so many emissions and sound requirements that need to be met. There are still carbed bikes that don't feel like they're running when they're on, it's not solely an eFI thing. I guess at the end of the day it's all preference, but if carbs were indeed so much "better", every car truck bike etc would still have a carb on them. Hell even my tractor is EFI now and I love it. I guess I am a little biased though, I work at a shop that does EFI tuning so to me dialing in fuel injection is much easier than carbs. Also fuel mileage and efficiency is many times better with injection and an O2 sensor for each bank than a carb. Also with injection I can tune the AFRs and timing for each gear at every RPM and load imaginable. With a carb as soon as something changes, I.e altitude, fuel type, air flow, you need to open it up and re jet. I just pull out my laptop. A $500 fuel controller is really a drop in the bucket for the amount of work you can do with it vs a few $5 jets that are literally only good for that one situation. (I.e a 138 Main and 55 pilot might be good on a 750 for Brand X pipes and Brand Y air box, but as soon as I put Brand Z air box on I have to rejet again.)

To each their own. I grew up with carbs, and I love them. I love working on them. Another issue I have is that EFI really means EPA. Having been a car and bike enthusiast for decades, the EPA has caused me a lot of misery and grief. I do anything I can to get past them. My 1977 Corvette has a 400 hp carbureted small block under the hood. No emissions crap and no catcons. No way would it pass an emissions test, but it doesn't have to. It is insured as a collector car, and therefore exempt from emissions testing. I see EFI as just more govt meddling in my life. And as I said before, EFI bikes don't run any better than carbed bikes. Just wait until you have to spend $500 on a new fuel pump. I am a retired fleet services mechanic, (for 36 years) and I have replaced dozens of fuel pumps that failed just because the car ran out of gas. Those pumps need gas both for a lubricant, and top put a load on them to limit their speed. If run in an empty tank, they quickly destroy themselves.

Carburators are all good for 1 or 2 cylinder bikes, I Would prefer 1 carburetor only because keep more than 1 adjusted and equalized is not that easy.. And that is the advantage of EFI. And when travelling for far away, in diferrent rotations, velocitys, altittudes, carbs turn annoying and stinky, the smell in the clothes won't go away Never again after 500 miles on a carburetor bike.. Well, that been said, I will keep carburetors for race,Sport bikes and commuters, for long travels always EFI...
