This is basically a toyota prado not a 4Runner check the toyota prado 2003-2008 they are the exact same its a prado in Australia, europe and asia in asia they have both GX and prado and you can get tv in the back and front and 3.4l petrol v6 or 2.8l diesel or 5.0l petrol v8 or a 3.0l v6 petrol are available in both GX and prado also prado and gx are still the same like LX and Land Cruiser
Exhaust Sports Auto thats fine because the prado was never sold in America so probably thats why nobody really know what it is but they are solid vehicles. BY the way what do you think of the lexus CT200h
I bought a 03 Lexus GX470. I wanted to work on a project and after spending thousands of dollars, I don’t regret it at all. I converted my GX from a city look to a mean, off road look. It has close to 300,000 miles but runs like it came out of the dealer!
@@idkwhtimduin My advice, just do basic tune up. Record its service history so you know what was done. Run the vin # just to make sure there isn’t any recalls. One important thing! If you look at the manual, for the 03 fuel recommendations, it states regular. Your not required to put 93 unless if you want to. Lot of folks say 93 is the best gas but since gas prices are skyrocketing, go based off from what the manual says because the engineers built that bullletproof engine to run on regular. Notice from 05-09 it mentions 93 haha!
My family bought one in 2007 brand new. It currently has 267,000 miles and it’s been flawless. Only issues have been air suspension - was changed to a coil kit, and timing belt and water pump. This is the most durable car you can buy.
Driving an 04 with 330 k. Everything still works as new. Solid as a tank , beautifully quiet and smooth. It drinks premium , indeed , but a small price to pay for an absolutely enjoyable driving experience. Carries all gear for camping for two , and a golden retriever in absolute comfort. Hits the trails then drives 4 hours home without missing a beat. Cant wait to see it roll 500 k !
@@AL_145 that's what I figured, was wondering if Lexis plays with the timing , manual says it's recommended. In the Lex it's not an i-force as in Tundra and Sequoia....don't know if it matters, sure the previous owner gave it premium , don't want to upset the balance , still works perfectly.
Great Review, you should add that this vehicle is a typical 500,000 mile vehicle, I bought this exact one with 75,000 miles and plan on driving it for 20 years.
We bought one in 2003 when they first came out, and then traded it for a 2008, which we still own. These are extremely well engineered trucks which are made for the long haul, and even with higher mileage everything just works. I call these the Rolex Submariners of the SUV world - they are ultra reliable, built like tanks, and hold their value better than almost anything else on the market.
After abusing my 370z i traded it with this GX, this car is PERFECT, i didnt want to buy a pickup cause in NYC there just annoying to deal with. This car fits both worlds, great vehicle for construction work and is such a smooth ride for inner cities. Get rid of the seats and u have a ton of space for Materials, and if u ruin the car its only 8k to get a new one
This car is a legend..it has same engine as LX470 back then..I have seen people owing them for years..Toyota sell this car in Asia/Australia as Land Cruiser Parado..200k Miles is point when Lexus becomes adult..it still has many miles to run..as usual another good review 👍👍
Ahh gotcha well both your 4 runner and this hold exceptionally good value so you could trade or even better sell your 4runner on consignment and get more for it and use the money towards a GX with a warranty. Just a thought if you really wanted a V8
@@MeynMotorGroup Definitely a thought. Since I got my 4Runner brand new, I like the fact that I've controlled how it's been maintained. Would like to see how long it would last ha.
It shares parts with a 4Runner but in no way is it one. It is badged as a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 120 in other markets and the are absolutely the best off-roaders and on-roaders for the money. One big beautiful tank this SUV is.
Just picked up an ‘03 with 95k mi on it with full Lexus maintenance history and all big services done. Traded in my 2010 V6 RAV4 for it which was also fantastic, but the luxury and capability of the GX are just what I wanted to enjoy the PNW even more. Thankfully I don’t drive much so fuel economy isn’t a big concern, but it’s honestly not that bad for a truck like this.
Can't forget the FJ Cruiser! A lot shorter and better for off-road. One of the best off roading water crossing vehicle. Owned one for three years. Now I want to buy one of these. Currently drive a 1998 4runner :)
Hey KEvin... i love these older GX SUV’s. Amazing quality for a 12 year old vehicle ! Like any SUV’s their aerodynamics suck and gas mileage suffers especially with this V-8.. if you have unlimited empty pockets and gas costs weren’t an issue this would be a great vehicle. But overall, this is solid SUV and would love to drive it to sample it... That looks like the same Starfire Pearl (triple coated) metallic white exterior as my 2013 ES350... absolutely love this color .. out of 20 cars ive owned this is only my 2nd white car ( I had a white BMW X5 which was a piece of crap) and in fact traded it in for my ES350. The X5 was solid white and doesn’t compare to this Starfire Pearl white... The way it glistens in the sunshine is amazing.
Yea these are best for people who don't drive a lot but most people that do own these drive a ton and pile up the miles mainly because it holds value haha
I just bought a Silver 2008 GX470 with 144,000 on it. Out of State from the kind of dealer I normally avoid. I'm about 60 so I gave it a good look over , checking fumes, cooling and oil buildup. All was good and we test drove it. These guys on RU-vid are right, I have seen cars with 3 times less miles not feel this good. Now my wife hates her Rouge with 65,000 miles ..Bad! And this is my beater to save miles on the F150 with 150,000 on that. Lifted Jeeps don't fit the Grand Dad life . This is getting some beach overlanding upgrades for sure!
Recently came across your channel and your reviews. Im a lexus/subaru guy all the way andI went hunting for this video lol. I bought a 2008 GX back in January with 122k on it and its without a doubt the best vehicle ive ever owned. No rust, everything works, Looking for a 15-16 IS350 F-Sport as we speak. Keep up the good work man. Your channel is incredible!
I would love one of these. I don’t care about the gas mileage or having to use the premium gas because this vehicle is absolutely beautiful. I think Everything is pretty driving my 10 yr old Versa lol.
Haha yea I think it's worth it as well for such a tank and holds value. Nothing wrong with a Versa my friend I believe that's one of the cheapest cars you can get that's not super old so you're not wasting money on transportation
I just got mine . 2006 with only 107,000 miles . Loving it, except the check engine light went on after I got it smogged. Thank God. It's a monster. No doubt. Smooth
was lucky enough to get this as my first car and i love it to death all my friends say it’s amazing and everyone likes carpooling in it. really feels like a tank but is surprisingly fast and sounds great full throttle.
You where finally able to track down a Gx 470 lol. Like the 2013 Gs 350 I own is the best car I’ve ever owned, the Gx 470 is the best truck/ suv I’ve ever owned. Thank you for the review keep it coming :)
Exhaust Sports Auto I love those too. They last forever. What problems have you had? I really like the S-Class with 150k that you tested but I am a little scared of those.
Oh yea Im still scared of the S class even with a warranty haha My Brake Actuator was potentially going bad and that unfortunately is very expensive like $3-5k and thats like 1/3 of what I paid for the car. I heard some people were able to change it themselves but people who had a warranty got that part replaced under warranty. And warranties only cost like $2k for a Japanese car and its perfect to sleep well at night. Just make sure the warranty you get is prorated so if you ever wanted to cancel or sell the vehicle you can get a portion if the unused warranty refunded back to you.
I recently picked up a 2004 with 260K miles and it drives like a champ. Only things I dislike are the older engine (pre-2005) has less HP so it’s sluggish since it’s lifted and I got bigger tires on, and it really is lacking in storage compartments but I’ve made mods to help with that. I plan to get many more miles out of it.
Brother it's only time Lexus hand delivers their new cars straight to you for a review. Your content keeps getting better. You can tell you actually like doing this and your not just trying to grind content out for views.
Haha they occasionally do I got the 2020 RC F, 2020 LS 500h, 2020 RX 350, 2019 UX but my area sucks for press cars no budget here. So I have to go to dealerships fortunately I got good access with Johnson Lexus of Durham. Really appreciate that my friend thank you for your support
THIS is the car i want as an upgrade for my ls430 but bro, theyre like 25k ive never seen a car hold that much value in my life, can you?!? its crazy theyre so expensive and here in quebec they fit right in. but at the same time for taht kind of money i can get a clean s6 or a7 or 2014 sclass...
Yea lot of options at that price and these things are very desirable for sure only major con is the garbage fuel economy but you know you can buy this pile on miles and not worry about loosing value. But you could technically get one of those nice German whips too...WITH A WARRANTY GX included lol
You know they say that you have to pay for quality. The Lexus will be more reliable and cheaper to maintain in the long run than the European models. I’ve got 210k miles on my 2005 Tundra that I bought new and have not had one single issue- not even any fluid leaks! Aside from routine maintenance it’s as solid as a rock
great suv eventhough i only had mine from 80k-140k miles not long at all, it was great. Only thing it needed was the timing belt service and spark plugs, great quality super reliable. but gas guzzler
Proud '04 GX owner w/ 132k on the clock & shows no signs of slowing down.. I let my younger sis drive this lux truck, which is a whole lot more sturdy + secure than her old '93 Civic that seems to be on its last legs now.. Solid review, Kevin! ByTheWay, anyone seen the GX470 review on RU-vid w/ 275k miles? Gives us Lex owners a lot to look forward to..
That's awesome yea these things are tanks worth holding onto especially since they never seem to age. And I'm def not surprised that there is a 275k review out there haha
I have a 2008 lexus gx470 that I purchased from my local Toyota dealer with 165.000 miles, today I hit 190.000 miles, the only thing I had to do was replace the air suspension and have had no issues., that replacement cost me a pretty penny
I just got mine . 2006 with only 107,000 miles . Loving it, except the check engine light went on after I got it smogged. Thank God. It's a monster. No doubt. Smoooooth but tough
@@seekfactsnotfiction9056 I would get a 2010-2013 gx since its cheaper and the same thing but without the facelift. I've been in both and I personally like the newer one since it has more features but the older engines from the 470 are far more reliable
Late watching this but your review is informative and direct to the point, no meandering! Sadly I feel the window to buy one is slowly getting smaller with prices creeping up.
I've noticed after looking to purchase my own that the price for a mid miles one around 160-220k miles are the same price with the only difference in price coming down to the interior condition
Exhaust Sports Auto ohh how about a tsx 2nd gen in stick then in the future? Also the 2nd gen tsx video from way back was the video that brought me to the channel and been watchin ever since!😀 and i watched that video like 3 times 😭😭since i wanna get one in like 1 or 2 years
Haha yea I would love to do one with a stick but also extremely rare to find since nobody bought them unfortunately lol Wow thanks for being an OG viewer my friend really means a lot to me!
I bought the same year GX used in 2012 for $28k with 55k miles. I now have 169k and have not put anything in it but a new battery, tires and timing belts. I would not part with it until 300k.
There's a few for sale in my area right now and they've all got mild to medium rear end damage according to the carfax reports. Every seller has over 200k miles on it and wants 20k for it lol.
I have a gx 470 2005 it has 245,000 miles on it still drives good my car guy says as long as I keep up with the oil changes I will last long how many miles you think it can go
Imagine driving a german car (i.e. ANY german car, for that matter) with 200k miles? Are you serious? Exactly. No one would ever consider buying a german money pit with that many miles, except if it's a Japanese marque.
Toyota's 2.8 diesel engines are pretty problematic...not sure you'll want to own one. Ask Australian owners of current Toyotas with diesel engines. The 3.0 diesel is the one you want.
Great review Kevin, I have a 2005 2WD 4Runner I still have and I really want to step up to a GX470 but damn peeps wants too much money for these bad boys I might as well just go all out spend a few thousand more at a GX460 or maybe even a LX470/LC
Exhaust Sports Auto yeah I really thought about it considering I only paid 5K for mines at 105K now at 117K, I could easily let it go for 7 to 8k given how the market is right now. But the 4Runner is so damn good to DD.
@@iheartgs400 Honestly any time you can flip something and make money, I always will lol. And try to do it over again if you can. But totally up to you my friend
