Wow. I had no idea this could be so straightforward. Yeah there's a lot of steps and bolts to keep track of but my gawd.... I think I can do this! Thank you :)
Thank you Sir. Changed the gasket on my partners 2006 Prius Gen 2 this morning. Followed your 20 step process which made a daunting task easy. The job went smoothly plus I unblocked the rain drains on the metal cowl which had 2 gallons of water sloshing around in there and the wiper drains which where also blocked with crud. Thank you for including the dimensions of the tools required. I pre ordered them from Amazon. Cant beat having the right tools for the job. Changed the PCV valve too. That was the most difficult to get out. Spayed it with WD40 and stood on the spanner and it finally moved. The gasket I ordered was from FIA and it stuck to the cover like a magnet. I know I checked it three times upside down. Before putting the Valve cover back on. After cleaning up the cowls I took the opportunity to spray them with Lanoguard rust prevention treatment which I have used to treat the underbody with recently. All parts ordered where genuine Toyota except the gasket which fitted better than the original. Comment, I was born in the 1960's and the Gen 2 Prius is the most intuitively designed car I have ever worked on. Simple perfection and reliability.
Just did my 05. It was exactly the same. New PCV valve, new gasket, new silicone dabs on the seams for $45 in under 2 hours. Had oil on my third spark plug when I changed em. I have p0420, c1242 and c1241. I'll try a new cat, but need some advice on the other two. Really appreciate the video. Followed along easy. Socket adapter on an impact with 10mm, 14mm, 3/4 for pcv, tiny flathead, big flathead, and it really helps to lay everything in a row to work backwards. Mind all the wiring harnesses. Don't wanna miss one. Most pins are pretty easy squeezes to disconnect.
I changed my valve cover gasket on my gen 2 Prius, and forgot the first step to unplug the battery now my headlights don't work. The(H-LP LO RH & LH; H-LP HI RH & LH) fuses are fine, the lights work if I use a jumper to the fuse to + power in the fuse box. I switched the H-LP relay with one like it P CON MTR I didn't test the HEAD MAIN 40 A fusable link but it looks good. I'm not sure if I accidentally disconnected something or fried something.
