Fantastic. I installed new spark plugs on my daughter's car (she is in college) following the step-by-step demonstration. I had to buy one tool for the exercise but it was worth it. My experience was identical to the demonstration. Thank you
And all the best to you sir! You bring a lot of joy and pleasure to us in watching your excellent videos and we are so grateful for them. A very Happy New Year to you!
I own both 2013 Toyota RAV4 and 2018 Toyota Camry se hybrid and love DIY, it’s save time and money. Since I have done all oil, gear oil and also transmission oil change also with coolant of rav4 but having difficult on same side with Camry transmission and coolant. Please let us know if their is any tips and trick or any specific tools for transmission and coolant. Would also love know more about to change of hybrid battery filter. Thanks
YES, BKR5EIX-11 belongs in that engine. There is nothing wrong with the heat range (5), tip reach, or design of that plug. NGK clearly states that on their website. BKR5EIX-11 is a replacement for Laser Iridium IFR5T-11 (which is recommended in the manual). The ONLY difference is that the Iridium IX plugs are NOT rated for the same length of service as the Laser Iridium plugs and that particular set in the customer's vehicle should have been changed out ages ago.
@Toyota Maintenance. Thank you Peter for the journey this year. Really hope 2021 will be a better year for all of us. Hope you and your family stay safe and well 🙏. Have a Happy New Year.
Happy, healthy and prosperous 2021 to you as well. Discovering this channel in 2020 was an all too rare bright spot in an otherwise dark and dismal year.
dear petter you are MAD-INSANE FUNNY !!!!! have you been nipping at the......"SPIRITS" HUM !!!!!!!!! JUST KIDDING LOL!!!! HAVE FUN MY FRIEND AND MANY GOOD YEARS A HEAD FOR YOU !!!! GOD BLESS!!!!!!!
Happy New Year Toyota Maintenance Man {God Bless} love to see all your Videos .I have two Toyota's 2011 Sienna Van 185,000 miles and a Toyota Pruis 2013, 88.00 miles .On the Van when do i change the Transmission Oil.they say the Van has a Seal Bolt. What say You thank you.
Just a heads up Peter. I am the original owner of a 2nd gen 2005 Prius and yesterday I replaced the factory spark plugs, for the first time, with 152,000 miles. Imagine my surprise when I pulled the originals and discovered that they were NGK Iridiums IFR5A 11’s. I replaced them with Denso iridiums based on your recommendation, but now I am wondering if I should have stuck with the factory NGK’s…
hey how did these hold up? they should have been fine they're original specification, but the ones that were in there should have been fine too. Just some last longer than others...
Thank you for your sincere Happy New Year’s wishes for us. Same to you! I wish your shop was in my time zone cuz’ I’d range pretty far to bring myTundra to you if it were.
Just joined your channel. I’ve owned Toyotas since my first car, 1985 MR2 and now have a 2021 Tundra. I handed down my 2012 Tacoma to my 16 YO. Have also owned a 4Runner. I guess I’m a fan of Toyotas. Enjoy your videos very much. All the best to you in 2021.
Great video as always sir. I love Toyotas and you're my go-to youtube channel for Toyota everything. Your videos helped me greatly in troubleshooting and fixing my 04 4Runner. I just bought an 08 Prius for a little car to drive around town and this video was helpful. I also bought the Denso plugs... before I even watched this video... I guess I got lucky and chose correctly lol. I bought the Prius for $3,000. What a steal for 50 mpg =] Has leather interior too... that "cloth" BS is trash lol. Just changed all the filters, wow they were in terrible shape. I think there was a whole tree in the cabin filter lol. Changed the oil and filter as well. Tomorrow will be the plugs and brakes/rotors up front and drums and shoes in the back. Thanks again bud =] Happy 2022.
Thank you, I was using craftsman socket but when I installed the spark plug the socket got stock. any advice? I'm thinking of getting either locking extension or another long socket
Happy New Year to you Peter and your family!!!! I wish you continued success to your business and channel. I have learned so much from you over the past year! I always watch each new video you produce. Thanks again, and much success to you!!!!!!!! :)
I have a 2000 Tacoma pre-runner that has the 3.4 5VZ-FE engine . I do most of my own service . On the first spark plug change at 30,000 miles . On the passenger side, the side with the coils , it had Denso plugs. On the driver side I was surprised to find NGK plugs . This truck has nearly 300,000 miles now and is still like new !
Thank you Peter. Like so many other viewers have mentioned to thank you for sharing your knowledge of Toyota and other vehicles (Subaru) . Happy New Year to you and your family. All the best in 2021. Hello from Westchester County New York.
Happy new year to you too! It's a pleasure to watch your videos and see how carefully and thoroughly you work on your customer's cars - truly a refreshing change from the typical.
Apparently, 5/8, 3" deep sockets are in scarce supply and magnetic version unavailable in my area currently. I had used painters tape inside 3 of the sockets to make them tight enough to lift the old plugs up out of the 6"+ tunnel they are down in. This was a real pain to get paper to stick to socket and repeat times 4, especially since its only 23F outside today and I did the job outside. It did not work for 4th plug, which behaved consistent with the law of the last of every screw, bold, nail etc., seems to often provide more resistance. So unsure if plug was up and socket not gripping or if plug was still unscrewed, i put the coil back down the hole and magic, the coil pulled out the old plug. So if you cant find a magnetic socket, maybe skip the paper inside socket as bits fell off and was a pain and try using the coils to pick up the old plugs out of the hole. Thank you for making this video and appreciate the humor and tips re Denzo and socket numbers.
I trusted the guys at Prius Chat when they said to use a 14mm socket. The socket is indeed 5/8th or 16mm for these plugs. The misinfo will cost me $20. God its tiring trying to just figure out basic info like Spark Plug size.
Good Video But I wish you and everyone else just not only upload a informative video but please also give information on the maker and correct part number and if possible from where to buy it and how much did you pay for it. I believe you were showing Denso iridium sk16r11 spark plugs for Prius 2009. When try to buy it, also appears (4Pcs Denso SK16R11 90919-01240) Are they supposed to be long, medium or Short. . Usually, at what mileage you should replace them, can they be cleaned ? and what would be Code or the signs for the bad Spark Plugs? Thank you. BN 12/18/23
Can you do a video on the thermostats on this Prius? Mine says I'm getting high coolant temp from the thermos so I think I need to change that one (or wires) but is it the same part as the engine thermostat? Will I need complex coolant bleed?
Hi Sir. Thank you for your videos. What do you think about replacing original 12 v auxiliary battery which has vent tube hole with new AGM sealed battery?
* Here's hoping 2021 is a great year for you Peter. The economy will almost assuredly get worse, so people will do maintenance on their vehicles and keep them longer, rather than acquiring a lot of debt buying new ones. So more work for you. Especially since you're honest. So have a great year! * Anti-seize is far preferable to stripping the plug threads! I've NEVER had or heard of a spark plug coming loose. * Now we want to hook you up to a torque wrench and see how strong those mechcanics hands are, lol.
Thank you. I watched your video partly because automotive repair manuals have become astronomically expensive. I have been working on the family cars for 45 years and I appreciate you showing how to be careful with the aluminum head prius engine. I vacuum and brush grit away, then vacuum around the plug before removing it. I use a 1/2" diameter nylon bottle brush dampened with WD-40 or mineral spirits to loosen the old anti-sieze when the plug is hard to remove. Thanks for modeling the best in careful mechanic procedure.
Doing wife's 20015 Prius C2 I needed a spark plug installer. An 8 inch long piece of 3/8 inch inside diameter tubing will help spin the plugs out and in.
Happy New Year to you an family! Thx 4 all advice, I really appreciate what your doing. We just purchased used 2020 Tacoma 6cyl with 19K miles. I am going to be counting you for service work when needed. I believe in you as someone who has great pride and honesty in this life. Thx again!!
the argument against anti seize is the same one you made about using factory plugs. the factory and the plug manufacturer didn't design for it. the factory specs are for a dry plug. with anti seize it torques down easier. That said, they will come back out fine if they are dry because there is a factory coating on the plugs. But it will also be fine with anti seize if you torque to the 14 ft pounds it's not going to come loose in most cases
Good job thank you I’m wondering if you work on Beatles like it all the ones I have one it’s 1979 and so far I live in New York by the way so far I haven’t find anybody that can work in this Beatles I don’t care how far you are I can come to you I can ship it to you I want this car to be running let me know please thank you so much I appreciate it
Thank you so much for this clearly filmed video and for including the parts needed (sizes of bolts/sockets etc; would be helpful to have that info listed in the description too!), I am much more confident I might be able to do this on my own instead of paying $150+ that I was quoted!
