Good video! I hit subscribe! Thanks for sharing. I have a V star 1100 as well. Had two of them i bought, both wrecked, and have made one pretty much whole between the two. I struggle with the carbs though.

You are correct. I usually have to sync my carbs two to three times every riding season. I made my own manometer and filled with engine oil. I’ve had occasion when the liquid was sucked up into the engine so engine oil isn’t a problem. Installing ball valves on the tubing lines and metering them in helps to stabilize the liquid bubble in the U. Because I have to resync the carbs so often, I’ve since made a twin vacuum gauge stand.

good video, thank you! I am wondering if timing ignition has to be tested before carbs sync procedure (as it is written as a NOTE in service manual) OR it does not really matter and carbs sync can be done anytime?

Where you put number one line for your meter I’m missing the line that factory on there. Where does that factory line run to is it important? 2:01

Wouldn't the hose being bent, mess with the reading?

My bike idles too low after about an hour or when it gets really hot ... can you give me some advice . It’s an 08 v star 1100 .. will this process help my problem and are those the same screws to adjust my idle up ??

Crazee Clayton yes this could help that issue and would be the easiest initial check. However you also have an idle adjustment that may need adjusted. The other issue you may have is the carbs may need new seals and o-rings on the points. I actually removed the o-rings on the points and gained horsepower. It allows more gas to dump into the bowls.

How do you like your guards. I have been looking at that style or a rounded style

Are you referring to the crash bars? If so I love them. I was in an accident on this bike and the crash bar saved my left leg. I replaced it with a black Lindby bar. Still have it and it's for sale if you are interested.

What jets did you put in the carbs have the same set up needing to jet the carbs?
@daveshank7
@daveshank7 5 лет назад
They were the stock jets. However there is a gasket at the bottom of the jet that restricts gas from dumping in the bowl. Cut it off. Easy 10HP gained.

Pretty good video, but you should have emphasis the point that a tach is an essential tool when syncing the carbs.

What do you mean? I’m about to sync my carbs and I have no fucking clue what I’m doing.

@@aaronkeith7336 not op and im sure you're done with this but I like having a tach so i can actually see where rpms are. Going off sound could have you idling too high. Or too low

@@daveshank7 the screws are rounded so now I turned it until the bike stopped smoking now I’m riding it down the highway and turning it a little each time to the left a little and it gains a little top speed and torque each time I’m gonna do it until it starts running bad then I’m gonna turn it back a little bit and hope that might balance them. I have literally zero idea because this is my first carbed bike.

@WillGrooverII I would highly recommend taking the carb off, rebuilding it while u are at it, and change the screws.
