Maybe his death means that his purpose is finally fulfilled and that he doesn't have to suffer anymore. Maybe he has finally found peace at long last...
While it's certainly depressing that David is gone, I personally think that the fact that Woods 5 received a Juno Award means that enough people recognized the influence of WOY that David would've probably been satisfied if he was able to. To be honest, I think that it was a symbolic end; Woods 5 is truly the greatest Woods album and another one probably wouldn't have nearly been as good. Maybe this death following a succession of albums, no matter how upsetting, actually has meaning to it. David appeared to be a very tortured soul, and as a musician with bipolar disorder myself, I can understand his agony.
Hey, a recent comment! It is also worthwhile checking out the continuation / side project that is Thrawsunblat, who is very much active, and a well deserved counterpart to WoY.
Very cool to see a great song being worked out from the start. Of course, David was a huge loss to music, but let's not discount the other band mates. Great music is great music, period and to think David created it all with WOY, is a disservice to the rest of the band. David was eerily prophetic....part of why WOY has captured the lighting in the bottle, but he wasn't alone
