Mr Clutch - your one tough nut! My body aches after just doing an annual service. I guess the body adjusts but still your soldiering on one car after another very impressive. You might be surprisingly good at grappling without realising.
Iwan that’s a nice little technique..,, I know Sachs are starting to do it now .., I’ve had a few of them come glued on already ..., you should have patented that idea 💡..✨🤩
Great job there Kevin, don't we love the martial arts tensioning device , looks dangerous that when you remove it from the cover plate , love the ramps
Kev- epic job as ever - Laser do a mandrel kit that fits on with just the clutch plate, aligns the plate, clutch cover goes on next, leaving the self-adjust release plate covering the mandrel, but the clutch aligned perfectly - could be a handy gadget to have - you pull the mandrel out after you release the self-adjust thingy when everything is tightened - might save some hassle? You also had me wincing lifting that box.... you must have arms/legs like hydraulic rams. :-)
Great job buddy, but you definitely know your impact gun Id be worried about cross treading the bolts but great tutorial as I've got to drop a box out of e91 as bearings have gone. Thanks again Kevin
Hiya Kev. Do the LUK sac clutch plates set themselves upon first push of the pedal? Only asking as I installed mine by removing transit plate first then bolting up the plates afterwards. Clutch works fine and is still strong after 2k miles but bite point is quite high.
Can you let me the link with the special tool alignment clutch for my bmw e90 330D 2007 ? Because idk how to use this two which you did. Would be great ! Thanks a lot ! You did a great job Albert ! Hope you have a good day !
Thanks mate. On the contrary been flat out .., haven’t stopped at all.. Got a new camera .., I keep busting them GoPro., they’re not that durable .., Any idea of a good matchbox size one.
Hello Kevin, I really like your content and find these videos very useful and informative. From your extensive experience with working on cars, which are the car/s that are built the best and will last the longer? Thanks
done this recently hardest part is getting the gearbox back in, I did this on my 123d which has a stronger gearbox than normal 1 series and it was too heavy and as there isnt much space under the car its very tricky and your strength will be tested
@@pelican7481 they get in the way... When doing a rwd car the stands on the subframe get in the way so better to use the quickift... Those lifts are also super sketchy on any ground that isn't 100% flat
Hi If you can please tell me how to put back same clutch on a place. Do I need to squeeze it somehow or just put back put gearbox and will be ok. Don't wanna to put new one because this one is 90% good.
HI there Kevin, thanks for sharing you made it look easy with that magic lift even thought that job was meant for two guys still using your knees I hope you charge well for your dues .p/s if you're in Glasgow p/s give us ring we have a job for you.cheers
Heya, i've done a golf 7 1.6 tdi clutch swap(with a MQ250 0A4 gearbox) by hand and was wondering if this is feasible by hand too, or the gearbox is heavier than a golf's ? Thanks in advance
Great shots in the video , like the pointing out of the release bearing pivot points. 1 question are gearbox input shaft supposed to have, play/wiggle or stiff but rotates? I've noticed mine has a lot after I did clutch but was told ok, just wanted to check with a hands on pro.
Hi Kevin Its really impressive video well worth ever second of it watching. You made it look like a walk in the park unline any other video. I'm just wondering what is the weight of that gearbox that you supported so easily without any jack and how easy it would be for a rookie like me to lift ans put it back.
Since I saw one of your videos the other day I have been hooked on this channel! Looking at clutch replacements on cars I don't even own haha. Very nice job! Subscribed! One question, I'm planning on buying all the parts for the clutch and Twin Mass Flywheel for my BMW E90 LCI 2010 320d ED. I used realoem to find the parts and numbers. But just to confirm with you, other than the flywheel, screws, pin and cylindrical roller bearing for the flywheel part, as well as clutch parts, release module, screws, ball pin and spring clip, there are no other types of seals that are needed when changing the clutch and flywheel? Would appreciate an answer from a master like you :) Cheers!
Thank you for subscribing and for the great feedback. A good kit as you mentioned. Will include. The dual mass flywheel. Bolts. Clutch plate. Pressure plate. Thrust bearing Fork. And if you want you can change the pivot point in the gearbox. There is also a start sensor which is located on top of the gearbox. Might be an idea to change that once you have the gearbox out.
@@WMCS Thank you so much for the clarification! Much appreciated! I made an order today with the following: On the clutch side: Set clutch parts (clutch and pressure plate) - 21208631809 Release module (seems to me to be the fork and thrust bearing) - 21517564027 Fillister-head screw - 21207548052 Ball pin - 21511223328 Spring clip - 21517570284 On the flywheel: Twin Mass Flywheel - 21207594958 ISA screw - 11228507622 Cylindrical roller bearing - 21207536792 Pin - 11217797978 I also bought a shaft seal, don't know if I need one. I did however not find any information about a sensor. What is the name of it? What does the sensor do? :)
Good job william i see all ur Videos abt service clutch i like ur experience cuz me too im a mechanical good luck again 💪💪 Point:the Screws of flyweel u must use torque wrench
Great work. could you kindly explain the alignment procedure before you removed the locking plate. The pins that you used please. I have done on some VWs before and used the Self adjusting clutch alignment tool, but not fit one of these before. Thank you. Great work.
Is the clip holding the release fork to the pivot pin supposed to be tight or is it okay to have some slack? Just fitting a new release bearing and noticed it slightly comes away from the pin when not under load
Hi do you know if all clutch kits come with a slave cylinder? For the n47 engine? Iv been told to buy a 3 piece clutch kit slave cylinder for my car but unsure what they mean do some not come with the slave cylinder
Hi Kevin, question whats your opinion on the standard throw out bearing from LUK in the clutch set from them I hear lots of people say dont mount them to much play, but they are self adjusting so the collar movement when new is normal I thought. Have a LUK dmf, clutch disc, pressure plate and throw out bearing kit but are now hesitant because of what people say.
You need the concave free play on them bearings because of the depth of the clutch fork in the gearbox. As the fork moves forward it allows the bearing to rotate and move with the fork. Otherwise if it’s flat and firm it will move forward at a 45* angle 📐 against the flat surface of the pressure plate.
Thanks thats what I needed to hear, have to tackle my e91 320d clutch, I didnt saw it quite in the video but is also grease needed on the clutch fork pivot points or all just dry mounting
Hey JP...😃.., really great to hear from you. Hope all is well pal. The clutch comes pre tensioned. So you can easily bolt the pressure plate on with the clutch plate still loose. Then I use to small Allen keys to hold the plate centre. The remove the pretension star key. Hope that helps.
@@WMCS I hope that everything is going well on your side me nickel and that your children are doing too. you do not need to guide the disc with a centralizer is that I did not understand too thank you Kevin
jp bahmed thanks a lot mate. We’re all good here.. country side living, so far so good. Hope you’re keeping well and your family are doing great too. I’m still gonna come round and visit when everything has calmed down.
You are star...my mechanic change clutch for me the same engine but i'm note happy, clutch pedal shakes and gears 1,2,R very defficult comes im,do you think schould be fine afer 1000miles?clutch is luk and dualmass. I was check on web that can happen when you put wrong side clutch disc This is possibile Many thanks.
Something definitely not right. You need to ask him to check it over. Maybe it hasn’t been bleed correctly or clutch springs was released prematurely. Hope that helps
Kevin-Albert Williams my english is not perfect butt,am i correct if i say that the clutchplate is Loose until you remove that spin in the middle? If you remove the spin thats the moment when the clutch presses on the clutchplate ? And the allen keys...how do you lock it ? And how do you see that the plate is in a good position before you remove the spin ?
And maybe a stupid question butt image if you remove the spin in the middle with this new clutch And you try to place it! Will it work ? Or do you really need the spin to be Hanging on until the end ?
John Wayne Yes the clutch plate will be loose until you remove the spin.. so you have the chance to adjust the clutch straight. But if you make a small error and the clutch is not fully aligned after you have removed the spin then slacken the pressure plate bolts a little bit all round and evenly. Then use a flat screw driver to move the plate around until you are happy it is in the centre. Then tighten them back up.
Used to do this until age and hernia stopped me. DEFINITELY Not for the pretty boys of today's gen. They will never know what hard work is really all about. Just care about the millions they earn.
