One cannot downplay the significance of this announcement. For a blink fan this was after a six-year indefinite hiatus that was assumed permanent. Going from memory aside from very short amount of advertising that blink-182 would appear at the Grammys shortly before, this came out of the blue and was a complete pleasant shock. One of my greatest memories.
I wonder what it would have been like if Blink never split up and stayed great friends. There would have been a few more Blink albums out. I'd love to hear those songs.
You can on the first Angels & Airwaves record, and Neighbourhoods. There is literally footage of Tom playing riffs from songs on Neighbourhoods back in 2003, and both Mark, and Tom, have said that some of the songs on the first AVA record were written for what would be the next blink record.
Coldplay deserved that award! They are amazingly talented not only with their instruments but with composing music as well. In addition, they are so humble and caring that you feel like you can approach them on the street and they would treat you like their best friend! I love Coldplay!
I remembered when this happen February of 2009. I was 17 years old. I'm 20 now and the feelings I get every time I'm watching this video is still the same exact feeling I got when I saw it 3, almost 4 years ago. Happy, excited, stoked, surreal, and just knew it was inevitable for blink to get back together. And I'm sure many people would agree with me. blink-182 forever!
At the very beginning after Mark gives his line, you can tell Mark and Travis assume it was Tom's turn to say the line but luckily Travis stepped in then once again they assume it's Tom's turn but then Mark steps in again and finally Tom says a line.
Gosh i remember this wen it was live. I screamed my head off in front of my mom and sis i was soooo exciteddddd and i feel like mark tom and travis were super nervous but they are way better than any of the bands there
I'm in this shot. hahaha I was sitting 2 rows behind them the whole night. When it shows them at the moment they win, I'm the one in the back who's jumping up and down. hahaha
People keep saying Coldplay is "alternative rock", "soft rock", "indie rock", etc. I just can't think of a right category to put them in. I just say Coldplay is Coldplay. They're like mythology or love, if u will; they can't TRULY be defined because there are so many definitions and everyone has their own opinion on it.
Chris Martin Shaking Tom Delonge's hand... Probably one of my personal favorite moments in rock history.... Also, Viva La Vida or death and all his friends was the perfect choice for best rock album!!!!!!
that is yet to be decided. in my personal opinion i think that it is a little similar melody that has been used by a bunch of artist. Even without that track on VLVODAAHF the album still deserved it
WHAT?! Coldplay made an amazing album!!!! I agree with the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States for choosing Coldplay. They heard something they liked. Speaking of which, have YOU heard the album in full?
Coldplay the best band ever and Blink-182 the second best band ever, Blink-182 presents the award thats so freakin cool i lov both of them thats so cool!!!!!
With the benefit of hindsight, it's plain to see how much blink-182 were not yet ready to make music together again. Mark and Tom still very clearly hated each other considering they're standing as far apart as they can without falling off the stage. That meant Travis had to open the envelope since he's in the middle, which would've been fine if it weren't for the fact that he had a broken fucking arm. Plus, they just sort of dropped the news that they were back without any fanfare. Like, "Hey guys. We made music at one point and we're gonna do it again, I guess." The new reunion seems to be going a lot better for the band, and I'm happy for them. Because the first one was a mess.
Coldplay is in another level compare to those typical rock band most are just you know bullshit lyrics with loud noise but Coldplay is soft and calm the soul
it's very bizarre watching Chris almost apologizing for not being 'the heaviest of bands' ..... dude, your band can be argued as being the greatest in music history, and I don't give a shit how heavy or 'badass' any other band is ...... when it comes to making great sounding and touching music, these guys are like a machine ..... no one can shine their shoes ..... the other day I was making a Coldplay greatest hits type cd....... it turned into 48 favorite songs that came to mind, and ended up being 3 cds .... and it took me forever to try and rank the songs somehow, as I couldn't decide which song I favor more than the other ...... I can't think of many, if any, other artists that I can have 48 songs just come to mind while making a favorite songs cd .... that's insane, especially in this era
Haha, I used to think they looked so old when I saw this. But right here Tom is literally only 6 years older than I am now. They look so young in this video in comparison to now.
