Yeah also 6th gear is just an a highway economy gear. 1-5 are really your acceleration gears. 133 is still impressive for an NA 4 cylinder which i presume is realitively stock, maybe intake and exhaust and a few other bolt ons

@@TheCelticsAREboss it’s governed at 134, I found this out when I was tuning my car and you could override the governor, I have the vids on RU-vid, and I’ll probably post a top speed run pretty soon
It makes a difference. You can feel it Car runs like a 2 stroke. Banshee 350 I used to have this car 3rd gear pulls like a V8 in the Civic.. I know because I have a Mustang now
Lol @ everyone who thinks because there isn't a noticeable VTEC crossover that the K24 is somehow an inferior engine. What those people don't realize is that the VTEC transition from low cam to high cam is supposed to be smooth not violent like coming into boost from vaccum. The CORRECT way to tune a VTEC car is to run it on the dyno and set the crossover where the HP and TQ curves meet. On the smaller displacement engines, the TQ isn't there until a high RPM, so the crossover tends to be higher and more noticeable. The K24 makes gobs of low end torque that the smaller engines can't even dream to produce and therefore have a much lower and smoother crossover point. I assure you all though, the K24z7 is indeed a performer, and we have had several in our shop for tuning and they put down impressive times. I just bought me a 2013 Honda Civic LX model with a hole 140 horsepower but it's just my daily driver. Love everything about it. Backup camera and built-in phone for hands-free link and does all kinds of other stuff. If car is like this came out 100 years ago, people wouldn't know what to think.

Mine can get to 136 before it hits the limiter..but my car has some electrical issues so that may be why, also was on a downslanted road. Love dem SI's
^^ well into the 13's (13.40-13.50) with just bolt-ons and tuning. We also have a customer who's all motor 9th Gen coupe with cams and a head package (stock short block) that will give the business to most stock block 2 liter boosted Si's in the 1/4, so the new platform is not terrible, just different.
It all comes down to gearing. 6th gear isn't meant for acceleration on those cars. Otherwise they wouldn't have made it begin outside of vtec engagement. It's strictly an overdrive.
That was a good run! I have a 13 SI coupe and it tops out around where you did on 6th gear. I did notice you hit 78 on third on mine I hit 74 on a good roll on 3rd. Anyways I liked the video
I remember when I was 10 and didn’t know anything about cars . My uncle had one . Back then for some reason, I like the cross over noise, now I know why
0-60 in 7.5 secs. Nice. My civic hybrid is 9.5 seconds, but its not because of it's lack of horsepower, it's the stupid cvt. They tend to slip so the engine is limited by the computer to prevent transmission slip.
The Accords are a bit heavier but can push until it hits about 140ish, with the rev limiter at about 6700rmp, you do not want to over load the heads and manifold
I had my 2013 Si 150mph & it was still pulling but the speed limiter stopped me there because I turned it and put a header but I forgot to remove the speed limiter stock it was 130 or so & then tuning it, it goes to 149 mph unless you remove it I think the car would have done 160mph.. at 150 car was extremely smooth & still pulling
