Just purchased this 2009 Honda Civic Si with over 200k miles! It’s got some issues, but there just might be a diamond underneath.

I have an 06 Si right at 200k miles. No major problems. I replaced the starter about 5 years go, also had clutch bearing replaced a few years ago. Had the clutch replaced while they were in there, I use to beat on it in my younger days. I’m about to replace the water pump it started making noise about a week ago. Only other issue I had very early on was a rear wheel bearing going bad but luckily it was covered by warranty. Still runs great has never thrown an engine light.

Maybe it's because I was in high school when these came out and was around them a lot, but it's crazy that a car that has 200k miles on it and has taken this much of a beating still seems like such a sleek, modern car. The 2 tier gauge clusters in these and in the 9th gen Si's (which I also owned) still feel futuristic to me, even more so than the gauges in my brand new one (with the half digital, half analog cluster for some reason).

That's why it lasted so long because everything was stock. When you lower the suspension you put extra wear on control arm bushings and other supension parts. Best thing leave it stock and do mantaince its a good car.

It's a keeper still fun to drive even with a lot of miles even though I just bought a new 2022 Honda Civic Si last Oct. Other than the normal tune-up stuff such as engine oil and cabin and engine filters, spark plugs, MAF sensor. Clean the throttle body it will accelerate like a bat out of hell and then reset it with ECU re-learn (if you can get it to work, I never could by disconnecting battery and holding RPM at a set speed) or just use a scan tool (like Foxwell NT510 Elite with Honda software) that can send Honda commands to it to reset idle speed.

@@BetaBuxDelux My original OEM clutch went out at around 243K and about 5K later or so did the OEM starter, I still have original alternator. I ended up replacing with factory clutch kit (why not? look at the life..)and my mechanic was stunned that the flywheel looked brand new he didn't have to replace or lathe it. If you treat the car decent and not beat it up too bad, expect a long, long life. Most people don't know about this but there is a oil deflector tool to avoid the oil bath on you and the CV Boot / Axel if you want to do the oil yourself. Google this part number VSB02C000033. Note the hole towards the end this actually wedges at a metal corner to hold it in place. I didn't figure this out until a year later with a shop light underneath the car. Plan on taking off the front passenger tire to get the oil deflector tool in there.

It will not let you stall. Try it out Put it in 1st gear and release the clutch slowly. Recall: paint on the 8th gen suck The Passager airbag needs to be replaced ( it has a metal object if deployed) Contact a honda dealer to get it replaced for free Things to replace: Master cylinder/ sleeve cylinder (EM1) Adjust clutch rod height ( help with the second gear issue) Bleed clutch Wheel rain guard If a light bulb needs to be replaced ( the only clear access is through the rain guard. Do not remove the under-cover for the rear( the trunk has a vent for each side behind the carpet. if removed you will have a lake in your trunk. Unless you block it. Check the cabin filter (located behind the glove department) to get access and squeeze the side glove wall inward. For all those suggesting timing chain change, that's designed to last the life of the car, so unless it rattles, it's a complete waste of money to change it. For those saying to change the timing belt, it doesn't have one of those. I had one of these new and I got rid of it because of a 1-2 shift high RPM gear grind (well documented issue). Does yours have that issue?

I own an OEM civic si 2009/2010 sedan in Brazil since 2017. Almost 60000miles. This coupe version wasn't avaliable in Brazil. I guess it's cheaper for you to restore a car like this because it's considered a popular car in the USA, car parts for you shoud be also much more available to buy. In Brazil I need to order a car part and wait a few days, the prices are expensive in some cases. In Brazil the civic is considered a car for well sucedeed people - it's true.
