I saw this hack from GasDiesel Garage and decided to try it using tools around the house. It was very helpful as I was in shock to find out the vehicle didn't have an essential item like the transmission dipstick. Using this method, I found that I had only about 1 quart of transmission fluid in my jeep. THANK YOU FOR THIS VALUABLE HACK GasDiesel Garage!!!

Not responsible for anything related to the use of this method. I used this as a quick short term fix to make sure I did not damage the transmission when I drove the vehicle to the mechanic (15 miles away from my home).

Thanks for the informative video!! 32mm is 3.2cm and 44mm is 4.4cm you have over filled your transmission darlin. You can get a removal pump from Harbor freight for 5 bucks put the hose in and pump out a little till your in the safe 😉

Hi. Your video is interesting and gave us a way to check the trans. oil. Thanks. However, we arrived at a different scenario. A centimeter has 10 mm, not 8

This is a great hack I got a 2000 Jeep Patriot automatic with a CVT transmission is that the same as she's using

Easier to just use the engine oil dipstick in the tranny hole in the AM when cold. When the tranny is new, or you know the level is good, just file or grind a notch in it for use in the trans. Zero cost, quick. No measuring. You could also use a piece of heavy wire or used wire pull tape.

I'm too scared to put a wire in there...I'd find a way to get it stuck and then I'd really be in a spot.

I'm sorry I have a 2010 Jeep Patriot with a CVT automatic transmission is this the same method you could use on it

I'm not sure. However, I only use this as a quick temporary fix so that I can get to the mechanic. If there is very little to no oil it could cause your engine to lock up... that would be A very costly mistake.

Yes just find the site for your transmission levels but use correct millimeters 10mm per 1cm And the fluid temp can be measured with a cheap laser temp gun pointed at the pan and it is quite necessary to do temperature part as well

She measures wrong. 4x8 = 32.. not 40. There are 10 segments if you count.. not 8 as she says. 8 would be on a regular ruler with inches.. she is using a metric ruler with millimeters. So there is 10 segments.

You are correct , I have a metric ruler and it is 10 cm per mm not 8 . 32 would be at the 3 plus to cams . Cheers.

that will only work if the oil dipstick touches the bottom of the pan

I'm not sure how far down the dipstick goes. I used this in an emergency and it was quite helpful so I'm thankful to the youtuber for the tiip. The guy at the auto parts store was dumpfounded when he put the after market dipstick in my engine.
