If you watch carefully, like with Deon Butler's run (called back for illegal motion), you can see that USC's fundamentals were inconsistent. Sometimes their tackling was horrendous. I was laughing at that tackling. 7:38 But if they had played all year like they mostly did this game, yeah, no question they would have been #1. But, they didn't.
2008 another year where they REALLY needed playoffs in College Football. You had USC, Oklahoma, Florida, Utah and Texas as teams that could have been in the playoffs. Most likely Utah being bumped off due to freaking politic$
Saban’s BAMA team’s couldn’t hold a candle to Pete Carroll era Trojans. Taylor Mays had one of the nastiest hits in college football in this game. Went through two guys including one of his own.Never seen a safety like him since. If you know, you know..
OU losing to Texas was simply a less terrible loss than USC’s debacle at Oregon State. If USC wanted to play for the NC, win at Corvallis on a Thursday
7:35: LOL this ref sucks at explaining the rules. Deon Butler, #3, did not commit illegal shift, he committed illegal motion. The ref says the offense was not "set," which is also wrong. It's illegal motion because Butler was moving forward when the ball was snapped. Since Butler's motion had basically no bearing on the play, this is also a really ticky tack call, albeit one by the book.
