Hey Jim, Have you noticed any dripin mileage after switching to 5w-30. A guy commented his civic si 1.5 turbo got less fuel mileage so he went back to 0w-20
Well this is a 0w-30 and not a 5w-30 so I'll see how it does as I put more miles on it. I'll be take a good drive this weekend so I'll see how the MPG is. I've run 5w-30 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum in it before though and didn't notice any huge differences in MPG. Even if I did I would rather give up a little MPG for the better protection.
The car normally used 0w20 and had just had the VVTi gears changed with 0w20 back in it. I used that oil as a break in for 500 miles for the new gears and then replaced with the 0w30. I was curious about the 0w-30 but I may stick with the 5w30 long term due to the better shear stability. Plus the fact that it doesn't get much below 25F here during the winter months.
I don't as I did that before I started my you tube channel. Post #54 on my build thread does show the pics from it. It's simply 4 bolts and 2 new o-rings when you replace the piece that the oil filter spins on to, very simple. www.toyotanation.com/threads/supercharged-mr2s-2009-2zr-fe-corolla-turbo-build-thread.1409258/page-3
@@vmag58 I don't as I did that many years ago, back in 2017. Just go to a dealer and have then look it up for you or you could get one off of a 2ZR engine in the salvage yard that has one as halfway through the 2016 model year they swapped to the spin on oil filters.
